  1. Can scioscia be traded? I can't imagine Arte will eat the 20 mil scioscia is owed, but k have to believe some team would take on most or all of his contract.
  2. I don't think Pujols is as done as some of you think. Last year, despite a horrendous start, he still finished with an OPS+ of 140. I gotta believe his foot injury really did affect his play this year. I look forward to seeing what he does next year.
  3. I think some people tend to forget that there is an element of luck to building a good roster. Just look at the Pirates, for example. They have turned what were probably unexpected seasons from Locke, Liriano and Burnett into a contending team. The Angels will similalry require some good luck going forward. But they have a great core of players in place, and I think they could be good again as early as next year if they get the right combination of shrewd moves, and a little luck. If, for example, they move Kendrick, the difference between getting a guy who performs like Pat Corbin or a guy who performs like Brandon Beachy (tons of talent, but big arm problems) could be the difference between contending and not contending.
  4. I should have clarified....I meant from a racial perspective. There is no evidence that Martin's death was race related, much as there is no evidence that Lane's was race related. But Obama felt it necessary to comment publicly in one case, and groups rallied and rioted in one case, and many called for "justice for Trayvon." Where are those people now?
  5. I have had a couple days to think this through and still can't figure out how this incident is any different than the trayvon martin incident. I honestly don't see you the difference (except for the fact that Zimmerman appeared to be acting in self defense and isn't an evil guy). Can someone please explain it to me? Dumb it down for me, I am not as quick as some on here. I am still waiting for Obama to comment on this and denounce the three young killers. Should I expect to be waiting a long time?
  6. Aren't you the guy always talking "rebuild?" How does Headley help you do that?
  7. Did anyone expect Corbin would become the star and Skaggs the (possible) disappointment? I sure didn't see that coming. I figured Skaggs was the prize of that trade, and Corbin a second tier throw in.
  8. Definitely Jeppy. I see him becoming an elite closer somewhere.
  9. I heard at least two of the three are black. Is that true? if so, where is the good Reverend Sharpton? Is Obama going to comment, too? This is truly an unbelievable story. So many human beings are just disgusting and don't deserve a place on this planet.
  10. If advanced scouts (not ours, but perhaps the braves') believe lee's minor league numbers will translate to the bigs (unlike tyler skaggs), I make that trade straight up.
  11. I thought this was a thread about some prospect we have in the lower levels who is currently tearing it up. After reading it, I no longer think that, but I am nonetheless very confused.
  12. This guy should be shot if he doesn't step down. Literally. He is failing the people he is supposed to serve and is too selfish to step down. How does San Diego not have a mechanism for removing him? No impeachment-like right for the city council? No way to recall him?
  13. He can laugh all he wants, it isn't his decision to make.
  14. Some of you way overstate the role that money factors into things. Most people - athletes included - are not motivated solely by money. Look no further than this team for proof of that. Weaver, Kendrick, Aybar, Pujols, Wilson, and Ianetta all signed deals that were either less than they were being offered elsewhere, or below-market.
  15. Would love to hear how this loss is Scioscia's fault. Any takers?
  16. That is typically the case, but not on this board. We could have a 14 game lead and still be talking about 2018.
  17. The sad part is that once this heartbreaking season is over, we have to endure six months of something far worse.
  18. Somehow this is Scioscia' fault. If he had more grit, heart, fire, determination, this wouldn't be happening. If he turned over a table or took a crow bar to Aybar's boom box, Blanton and kohn won't give up 7 runs next game.
  19. I was on board with this too Chuck, until Garza's recent twitter rant. As trivial as I might sound, I think that single episode showed just how immature and reckless Garza can be.
  20. Yep. Those four would make for a very solid 4/5 of a rotation.
  21. Not enough years AJ. If you are going to give him 200 mil, lock him in for at least 12 years.
