Said this before, but Austin Barnes is blocked by both Smith and Ruiz in the Dodgers system.  He could time share with any number of catchers that we'd bring in, or he could platoon with either one of our in house options, and the cost to obtain him would be very reasonable.

I agree with this.  We have Fletcher, Rengifo, and LaStella, all of whom can play SS.  Also, a trade like this clears more dollars to be spent on the starting pitching, or the catching spot, which was another eyesore, again.  
If we could clear enough dollars to add Cole and MadBum, I would be VERY happy.

Eppler took over a train wreck of a farm system, thanks to DiPoto, and you guys think no one else in baseball is paying attention?  The Red Sox are about to face some major payroll issues, especially if Sale and Iovaldi are out long term.  Most of their top prospects have either already made their way to Boston, or have been dealt.  JMO, a guy that can restock a farm system may be what they are looking for.  

If it were up to me, I'd be sure that Billy Eppler is locked up.  Eppler is just the type of guy that the Red Sox would try to poach from us.

If it is my money, I'm trying to sign both Cole and Bumgardner.  We need quality pitching.  We have seen firsthand that the quantity thing doesn't work.

I think this is a good move.  Stratton has been a SP in the bigs, Jerez is wilder than a March hare.  Nice to have another SP option.

I don't think you would like Rojas as a 2B.  He can handle the corners, though.  And he is good at making contact.  He is earning a long look.
