Baltimore is arguably the best team in the AL. That series was always going to be tough.
This is still a transition year. Doesn’t mean they can’t compete but I won’t build any expectations. Just want them to stay healthy, develop the kids right, and make a savvy trade or two to compliment a good draft.

Baltimore is so good that this is what the guys who didn’t make the team are doing…

as such I’m not gonna put a lot of stock into those first two games against Baltimore, and against the last three games against a winless team. Or any 6 games. But anybody who was throwing in the towel after the first two games truly doesn’t get how good that Baltimore team is. Astros 2.0.

Haven’t seen all of his at bats, but all that I have seen from Adell’s have looked really good. Much better approach.
Sano is also torching the ball when he hits it.

    I'll add something from Gameday:
Sandoval continues to decline, ends up as the 4th or 5th best starter.
No, this isn't overreaction to his first start. I've been worried about him for awhile, going back to at least early last year.

He looks done. Drawing a walk is about it and that won’t last much longer once pitchers realize they have no reason to not attack the zone. I know he’s owed a ton still but if this is how he is, they’re better off booting him and giving more playing time to Rengifo, even Soto or Fontenelle by end of year.

This is actually pretty encouraging. Glad they're (finally) taking this route.

Spring stats and all...but this seems really impressive to me. Especially because a lot of these guys tend to have issues with walks.
Estevez: 6 IP, 4.50 ERA, 5 hits, 0 walks, 4 strikeouts, 1 HR Moore: 6.1 IP, 1.42 ERA, 1 hit, 4 walks, 7 strikeouts, 0 HR Garcia: 4.1 IP, 8.31 ERA,6 hits, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts, 0 HR Cimber: 7 IP, 0.00 ERA, 1 hit, 1 walks, 6 strikeouts, 0 HR Pomeranz: 8 IP, 5.63 ERA, 8 hits, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts, 0 HR Cisnero: 6.2 IP, 1.35 ERA, 3 hits, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts, 0 HR Strickland: 10 IP, 2.70 ERA, 8 hits, 0 walks, 14 strikeouts, 2 HR Zuniga: 8 IP, 6.75 ERA, 11 hits, 0 walks, 11 strikeouts, 0 RH Suarez: 12 IP, 5.25 ERA, 12 hits, 1 walk, 11 strikeouts, 1 HR Also not many HR, but real small sample (especially for relievers in ST) and this is without some of the guys we expected to be the core of the pen (Stephenson, Joyce, Soriano) going into spring.
Looked up Soriano and just as good there after today, 14.1 IP, 4.40 ERA, 15 hits, 3 walks, 19 strikeouts, 1 HR.

Since we're not expected to really compete this year, I absolutely would keep Soriano stretched out in AAA, as he'll be immensely more important to us as a starter if he can stick. No brainer.
Give the last two pen spots to Strickland and Pomeranz. They've both pitched well enough to earn it. Yes, Zuniga has as well, but he's on the 40 and has options. Stick him in AAA and have him be the first up when one of the pen guys suck or get hurt. If Pomeranz and Strickland hold up until July maybe we get a decent prospect or two. Keep the depth.

Just want to point out.  That if I was hired as Shohei's interpreter, this would have never happened.  I also wouldn't be able to understand what he says, so would make shit up, so another form of plausible deniability for him.  And I don't bet on sports, outside of horses, so he would have been safe.  I would still have "borrowed" the $4.5 million for benders in Vegas though.
