I am down on Fletcher, but again, if he comes back and works counts he has value.  If you disagree that is fine, but it ignores what he is capable of doing if his approach gets back to what it was. 
My big question is did his approach change or was it forced to change because of how he was being pitched.

I'm not really against this move, as I'm not convinced the guys he's replacing are any better, but I really don't get why people are so convinced Fletcher will somehow be a good player again.

Is there anyone in baseball over the last two seasons that hits the ball softer than Fletcher?

Honestly, it sucks that Perry spent the offseason specifically trying to improve the overall roster depth to account for injuries and to avoid having to rely on really bad hitters, and he did well in doing so IMO, but it's all moot now because so many of their damn infielders all got hurt around the same time

Rendon's cooked but even he is still better than being forced to trot out guys like Padlo and Velazquez. Biggest problem is guys like Walsh and Rengifo, 2 players they clearly were counting on to be regulars for the team this year at 1B/2B, and both are performing like some of the worst hitters imaginable. Neither belongs in an MLB lineup right now but they have so few options with Neto/Urshela/Rendon already down. Fletcher doesn't count as a realistic option, he sucks too

The upside is that we at least have our clubhouse leader for the next decade

Yes, he's a bust if by "bust" you mean he's not earning his contract, relative to expected value, which for a free agent is about $9M per WAR.
Counting half of this year's salary, so far the Angels have paid Rendon about $96M and gotten 3.6 WAR out of him. That's about $27M/WAR, or about 3x the cost for the expected value.
By the end of his contract, Rendon will have gotten about $228M from the Angels. $228M / $9M = about 25 WAR. Meaning, to not be a bust, he would need to accrue over 21 WAR over the next 3.5 years, or about 6 WAR per season. Not going to happen.
 

Also, two fucking hits in 11 innings against the second-worst BP in the majors.

Crazy women are crazy. (Same as crazy men). But I'll add here that even beyond that, I have a front row seat 40 hours a week to seeing people who had kids with the wrong person.... and all the fun that entails afterwards....
