LBHalos17 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Burglary arrests this week...
So, I gotta tell you all this story!  (and the follow-up).

Last Weds morning, I was sitting at home on the couch watching tv before work.  My sofa backs-up to our front window, so I am usually in-tune with the comings-and-goings of my neighborhood...

It's about 11 am and I see this silver Honda cruised past my house very slowly.  A couple minutes later, it drove past again and I could see that there were two people in it.  They were going slowly enough, that I paid attention.  About a minute later, the UPS guy pulled-up in front of the house and dropped-off a package to me.

Thinking about the car, I jumped-up and went out to grab it.  The UPS guy got in the truck, started it up, turned it off, and got out.  He was looking behind the truck, when I asked him what was going on.  We saw the silver Honda pull-up and park a few houses down.  Two young male, Blacks got out of the car and split-up.  One went and knocked on the door of the house they parked in front of, and the other went further down the street and out of sight.

I asked the UPS guy what was going-on, and he said, "Those guys have been following me for a while."  I told him to hang-on, and went in to get my phone to call-in the suspicious activity.

A few minutes later, they were both in-custody.  They were "door-knock" burglars, and had several of the packages the UPS guy had dropped-off in the car.  They were on one of our wanted-posters from previous burglaries, where they were caught on camera wandering the streets where burglaries had just occurred.  Search warrants later recovered more stolen items, including two handguns.

I thought that was pretty cool, but then it happened again!  This time, it was an off-duty Cop driving his kid home from school.  He saw two youngsters walking out of a backyard with backpacks full of items (including a laptop sticking out of one).

We stopped them, and the off-duty pointed-out the house they had just burgled.  We recovered over $6,000 in stolen items, including a 9mm pistol that was luckily still in the lockbox.

These are the capers that make it a great job.

Oh yeah; no Black lives were snuffed-out in the making of these arrests.

Juan, you're full of hot air. Please back up your assertion that gun laws have no correlation with homicide rates. You spout this sort of thing like its fact, but its not. To be honest, I'm not sure that we know. But it is, ahem, common sense that if guns are harder to come by there will be at least some reduction in gun violence. I mean, isn't it worth a shot? What's wrong with it being much harder to own a firearm? Who does it hurt? Not responsible (and sane) gun owners.

But yeah, I agree that there is ideology and culture involved.

Emergency was my favorite show as a kid. We watched Adam 12 a little bit but my mom didn't like us to watch it because she thought the content was too intense for kids. She felt that way about all police shows, but she was okay about Emergency because she was an ER nurse.

I used to love watching Adam-12 reruns when I was a kid. Don't remember which channel, but they would show Adam-12 and Emergency! back to back. I had a cousin who would come in and try to put on The Brady Bunch instead. Surprised he ended up hetero.

This one is a tough one.  When someone that is 10 feet away.  Points to you and says he's the accomplice.  Police should take them down.

But when the officer did not reported.  Then that's a problem.

Also, Bratton did not help the situation out, or maybe the news isn't reporting it.  But when Bratton says they look like twins.  It would help if they released the photo of the intended victim, since I'm sure they have a mugshot.

Summer there is only a few months, so yeah. The season is more like just a few weeks.
In summer the locals are out and about outdoors fishing, camping, and other things.. after a dark 8 month winter.
Basically it's tourists and retired folks and families with kids that go to the baseball games.
It's an advanced amateur league for mostly college players, but lots of top players come up there for the experience. They don't get paid, but they get treated really well with top notch accommodations, travel, meals, etc

LBHalos17 reacted to gotbeer in Why Germany just closed its borders to refugees
    1.  Yeah, that's a big question.  Guess it's that whole religious divide.  Sunni, Shiite and whatever else, while Catholics or Christians need not apply.

    2.  I think a lot of these refugees are thinking that life will be better in Germany or these other European countries.  Then they will realize they can't speak or read the language.  They may have been doctors or engineers or businessmen in Syria, but all that is worth is driving a cab or being a janitor in Germany.  They will eventually band together in communities, since that will be the only way they can easily communicate.  And in will come frustration, see Frances Muslim community.  Then #3 will happen.

    3.  I think this is what Hungary and Germany are finally realizing.  When you let anyone in, it's easier for infiltration of undesirables.  Whether it be ISIS, Al Qaeda, or just a plain murder or rapist or thief.

    Wow...
I wouldn't be able to standby and watch those gangster-thugs frog-stomp anybody like that.  It's pure gangster-pussy mentality.  If I saw Angels fans doing that to an A's or Dodgers fan in our parking lot, I'd be jumping-in to help the person on the ground getting kicked by a bunch of bitches.

AO-  I have a similar story...  Back in the late 80's we used to go to Fenders in LB for punk shows all the time!  It was a great time, and led us to starting our own bands!  Anyway, at one of the shows a bunch of hispanic thug gangsters were there.  They decided to "flex" their little weasel muscles by ganging-up on random people during the show.  Two of em would sucker-punch a guy from behind, knock em to the ground, and start kicking him.  The second time I saw this occur, I told my buddy I was goin-in.  I ran as fast as I could at the punks, and through two or three of em as I launched over the guy on the ground.  I got up on the other side, ready to get ambushed by the featherweights, and was surprised to see the rest of the crowd coming closer to help-out.  The thug-ettes left.

To me, I get sicker to my stomach NOT doing anything over watching it happen.

I think we should pump the brakes on claiming hat was better than the 2012 catch.  The difficulty level on that one was SOOOO much higher than this one was.  It's really the circumstance that makes that one special.  Without it, this game is over and essence, so may the Angels season.
