Angels Never Die got a reaction from Chuck in The Official Los Angeles Angels 2016 MLB Draft Thread
I wasn't against the pick per se, I was against making him a position player. I thought he'd be a better pitcher, I was enamored with his stuff. Looking back, he probably would've busted as a pitcher, most HS pitchers do.

Yeah, Bane wasn't perfect (I certainly had my criticisms,) but he was competent enough to warrant not being replaced by just anyone. It seemed like they threw away a decent known quantity for an unknown one. It seemed like a reactionary response to the 2010 draft, which admittedly, the extra picks we had did not seem to be used wisely, but whatever, the draft is largely a crapshoot, and at worst it was one bad draft.

Kiriloff sounds Interesting, it would be nice to have a young pure hitter in the organization. Still, I guess just taking whoever projects to be the best player is the best way to go, I guess we can't be picky.

Jack Howell still sticks out in my memory as being someone who was a really good pinch hitter, although that memory comes from my childhood, so who knows how good it is really.

Yeah.  I hate how unsympathetic and indignant people can get.  I really hope people don't treat him like he's some perpetual **** up like they did with the bar incident.  You start treating relapses like they erase all your accomplishments and hard work, then that's likely what they'll become.

I would never just expect anyone to particularly care about him personally, or feel sorry for him, but casting moral indignation his way is different than that.

Sure, like any celebrity, dealing with the public perception of them comes with the territory, that's the reality of things, and those are the consequences of his actions, but that doesn't necessarily excuse the public reacting that way.  If an actor has to deal with paparazzi's harassing them on a daily basis, that is a known consequence to their celebrity, but that doesn't mean the paparazzi should harass them. Although, I'm not trying to say anyone here is harassing him.

So since I'm arguing against one extreme, that must mean I'm in favor of the opposite extreme of being completely permissive? False dichotomy much?

I don't care how rich someone is, there's no amount of money that makes them not susceptible to the same weaknesses we all are. This is someone who has clearly put in an incredible effort to improve himself, if he hadn't, he would not have come as far as he has.  Has he been perfect in his efforts? No, but why does it seem the only options here are perfection or absolute failure? The good doesn't erase the bad, nor the bad the good. He's progressed and he's regressed, there's nothing written in stone here that says this has to be anything more than a set back in his quest of becoming the person he wants to be.  Setbacks, screw ups, are a part of life, we've all had them, and you're not going to get very far if you start looking at it as anything more than a setback.  You say addicts look for excuses, well what about the excuse of "I'm a terrible person, I can't do anything right, it doesn't matter what I do, I"ll just screw up anyway"?  You don't think that self-loathing mindset has been used by addicts to justify spinning out of control and self-destructing?

I want all three Trouts. Rookie Trout to lead off and steal bases.
Sophomore Trout to get on base with walks in the #2 spot.
MVP Trout to drive them in out of the 3 spot.

He has a typical star player's attitude, and a lot of people know about every little thing he does because he's growing up in such a highly reported-on era, but the problem is, he's not a star yet.

Angels Never Die got a reaction from NrM in Feminists are great
I wasn't really referring to the stereotyping of feminists as much as I was referring to the assumption people make that feminists reflect the views and reactions of women in general, when they don't, and that's demonstrated by most women not identifying as feminist.  There are a lot of different types of feminism and feminists, but SJW's align well with third wave feminist ideology.  The type of pseudointellectual garbage they spew is the same shit you'll hear in most women's and gender studies courses, they're popular views in academia, media, and political/legal activism.  So if feminism can be represented by any particular sect, then SJW's are just as good of a representation as anything else, if not better.

The shittiest part of all of this is that since the SJW feminists are the current biggest mouths of feminism, people equate their voices to the voices of women in general, so they're making women look incredibly weak with this BS outrage. So they're not even doing women any favors, when that's the banner that they wave. These people are not about equality and fairness, they're about demanding the most absolutely benign reality for them, personally, based on their own personal sensibilities, and if society doesn't meet that standard, then they're being oppressed, along with all women.

Calhoun bunting at all was bad, but the fact that he still wanted that bunt despite a 3-1 count completely infuriated me. Scioscia was just throwing away outs left and right that game.

I'm not saying it's weird or anything that you guys are reacting this way to the A's game last night, it's obviously completely expected reactions, but it just really doesn't resonate with me personally. I've always respected their organization, and have had no reason to have negative feelings towards them.  I guess it's just hard for me to revel in other people's misfortunes, especially when I have respect for how generally well run their organization is.  I've always thought the A's have been great adversaries to the Angels and have helped create good memories in fights for the division.  I wouldn't have minded playing them in a series at all, it would've been fun to finally meet in the playoffs since it didn't happen in '02 (which I was both relieved and disappointed about.)  I suppose it's all harmless ribbing, but it was a one-game playoff, any team can lose like that at least once.  I'm not saying they haven't fallen off for the last couple of months as well, but it's not like the Angels haven't been there before themselves.

Anyway, I'm just getting some thoughts out, not trying to judge anyone.

Angels Never Die reacted to Inside Pitch in Will Weaver Be a Moyer-Type in his late 30s?
I don't think he'll ever be a Jaime Moyer, I think the guy he is most likely to emulate is late 30s Mike Mussina.  He's basically a splitter away from having the same exact pitch profile as Mike had late in his career.   Weave used to throw a cutter earlier in his career, it wouldn't surprise me to see him bring it back or pick up the split just to add some deception to his FB and slider mix.  His curve seems to be his out pitch right now and while I don't really see a need for him to move away from that adding something to make his other pitches more effective wouldn't hurt.
