EDinTUSTIN reacted to Stradling in Garrett Richards
Strikeouts are good, but not as good as early count outs. If you work down in the zone like he has so far this year he will induce a ton of ground balls. Sure some of them will be hits, but hell we were victim of a strikeout that allowed a base runner. Go for the K when you need a K, but not every batter.

EDinTUSTIN reacted to ten ocho recon scout in Kudos to Albert Pujols
Trout will never put up the gaudy offensive numbers pujols did hoops. Trout isnt a traditional 'slugger', and albert peaked in a different era. Pujols put up juiced numbers in a juiced era. Not at all pointing fingers, just that guys playing now cant match them. (Look how much better pitching is).
The reason I disagree that pujols was better is because trouts a true 5 tool guy. So whereas pujols is pretty hard to beat (for anyone) batwise, he was also a 1B. If trout was playing 1B with his bat, he would be a very good hitter but probably not as celebrated because he wouldnt have the rep with his glove. (And trout is a true basestealer).
But to back YOT's topic, agreed. Both those home runs were bombs. Im not expecting that to be the staus quo, but ill be more than happy getting the 2012 pujols back. Give me that, and trout breaking out of his current funk, and our lineup can tread water for a bit until hamilton comes back (or someone else catches fire).

Hitting HRs in consecutive games in Safeco is not an easy feat. Let's hope this signals a reinvigorated future Hall of Famer.

EDinTUSTIN got a reaction from bloodbrother in Gameday Rant Thread: 4/9/14 Angels @ Seattle
LOL @ Howie hitting 5th. Even worse, there is no choice as he is the best we have for it.

He has a good gait.

EDinTUSTIN reacted to Reveille1984 in Josh Hamilton Injury
Sliding headfirst into first base does not equate to "making an effort" any moreso than just running through the bag. It's like commending someone for picking up dogshit with their hands instead of a shovel because it requires more effort and grit.
There's no reason for any player to ever slide while running to first. The risk vs. reward is pretty much nonexistent; all risk zero reward.

EDinTUSTIN reacted to WallyWorld in Kole Calhoun with a walk-off 2-run BOMB!
outside of seeing what Trout will do this year, Calhoun is probably the guy I'm most excited about. All of our the other guys in the lineup have either been here for a while, or are veterans, so you know their ceiling. Calhoun is a real wild card.

EDinTUSTIN got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in LA Times: Joe Blanton still has a shot to stick with Angels
I agree. 2 and 14 with a +6 ERA should have sealed his fate. Keeping him as depth, in my opinion, is absurd. That isn't depth. There are plenty of kids in AAA that can do what Joe did- and on the cheap. I doubt seriously, though, that he is even being considered for a rotation spot. If he pitches well in ST, he will be traded for whatever he can bring in return.

EDinTUSTIN got a reaction from Amazing Larry in LA Times: Raul Ibanez could be a working-class hero for Angels
I like Ibanez. I think he could provide some much needed player leadership and mentoring. No price can be put on professionalism, work ethic, and good character.

With our luck, the rubber will break, and in 9 months we will regret not pulling out.

EDinTUSTIN got a reaction from Vladdylonglegs in Angels Official Website: Burnett making progress, but DL trip still possible
Time ot do some editing advice. The title would look about right if it stated, "
"Burnett making progress, but opening day is still possible."
The DL line is a foregone conclusion.

EDinTUSTIN got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Gameday thread 3/6/14 Dodgers @ Angels
He's not where he where he needs to be. He and Butch haven't had the opportunity for some bullpen sessions to work on some things.

EDinTUSTIN reacted to Stradling in Angels & Mike Trout Agree to 2014 Salary of $1M
This is great news. I agree that we are very close to a long term deal hopefully seven but if it's six I'll be fine with it. I also think the speculation that it will come with a big signing bonus is accurate.

EDinTUSTIN got a reaction from Ohtaniland in LA Times: Angels first baseman Albert Pujols is feeling 'awesome'
LOL It sounds like something you would hear from a trainer at Churchill Downs. Nice choice of words, Sosh. The gift that keeps on giving. You all know now that that immortal phrase may just find its way into a special thread if the opportunity presents itself. Hopefully not, though, as I am hoping for a great season.

He'll pitch in a few games, then something will get a little sore, and he'll be out until late August.
