Who's to say he didn't suggest it, or that he didn't even try it last season. My guess is something like that doesn't really get worked on during a season but rather in the spring. I think it is quite simply a fluff piece by a writer that needs to write something. Was he pitching from that side of the mound when he gave up four home runs six days ago?

i'm gonna say no because there are baseball writers everywhere and when one of them saw him pitching from the far right side of the rubber, then one of them probably would have asked about it, maybe write about it, and so on.

 

edit: i'm gonna add that if you are in the midst of a 2-14, 6.04 era season, then maybe go ahead and work on some new things in season. you know, get crazy.
