Angels in 2030 got a reaction from ELEVEN in Angels select 1B Nolan Schanuel 11th overall in the 1st round of the 2023 MLB Draft
well the organization can't develop any players. So might as well draft a guy closest to the majors and avoid screwing him up like they usually do.

Angels in 2030 got a reaction from ELEVEN in Angels select P Camden Minacci 174th overall in the 6th round of the 2023 MLB Draft
“He shouldn't require much development time as a pro and could become one of the first 2023 draftees to reach the Majors.”
lol, lucky for him considering he was picked by the Angels.

Angels in 2030 got a reaction from Taylor in Angels select 3B Alberto Rios 79th overall in the 3rd round of the 2023 MLB Draft
I'd say i'm very underwhelmed by the angels picks so far (this one especially), but this is the angels we're talkign about....so i'm just whelmed.

Who did you want them to take at 79?
Ronald Acuna? Aaron Judge?

Angels in 2030 got a reaction from HaloBronco in Angels select 1B Nolan Schanuel 11th overall in the 1st round of the 2023 MLB Draft
Even if Trout were ranked #8 by everyone (not the case), it still shows how meaningless the rankings are at draft time. It's fun as fans, but in reality it's worthless. I'm sure each team has wildly different rankings of the players -- and even then, they are WAY wrong for what the players ultimately become.

Angels in 2030 reacted to Since78 in We’ll become contenders when…
…Arte sells the team and/or changes the name back to California Angels. Until then, the perennial suck-fest will continue….and also find better pitching.

Angels in 2030 got a reaction from AngelsLakersFan in The Official Hypothetical Ohtani Trade Thread
Any team trading for Ohtani is doing so for winning the WS this year -- not necessarily for the LT of Ohtani. So them giving up producing ML talent in return makes no sense. The trade here is for prospects only. A top 10-20 overall guy who's a 2024 option + a guy in the 50-120 range + maybe 2 very young (17-19 yr old) promising but far out pieces (int'l or recent HS draftees).
If any current ML players come in return, i'd expect it to be guys for salary match (if a team cares about that) or a former high ranked guy who is not cutting it (yet) at the ML level.

Bleh. Last few weeks have really been poor for this organization.

Trade him for whatever you can get.
And for the love of God, make Arte sell this team. Enough with an owner who wants a fancy sports car and clothes to show off, meanwhile his house is rotting and falling apart from the inside.

The team, organization, owner, etc. -- all suck. Burn it all down, clean with bleach and start over again from scratch.

Arte has never spent a dime on hiring a General Manager. He's probably spent more on Managers than any other owner during his tenure. Scioscia's contract is still the highest contract ever given to Manager by double the 2nd highest. He paid a ton of money to Maddon too. However, he has always hired first time General Managers who would take whatever piddly amount they were offered to get a chance that they may never get offered again. Just another example of the strange and ineffective way that he spends his money. There have been many proven championship building GM's that have been available during his ownership. Those guys can also bring in the top available front office people as well. However, he chooses to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on "superstar" free agents, or trading for big contracts, after their peak. Also, he spends near the bottom on GM's., scouting and player development. I'll guarantee you that the teams that invest more in their front office, scouting and development win much more consistently than those who blow money on free agents. I'm pretty sure he spent over $800,000,000 on Pujols, Hamilton, Rendon, Wells & Upton. How did those moves work out?

New season, same story. Definition of insanity. Tear the thing down and start over, starting with an Ohtani trade. Might be painful for a few years but can't be any worse than the last 15.

This is fish is rotten from the head down. The head is the only thing that hasn't changed here. Something about the entire losing culture of this organization stinks from the top to the bottom. Was there a single Angels' fan that was hoping Arte wouldn't sell the team???

Angels in 2030 got a reaction from Taylor in Angels select Louisville LHP Reid Detmers 10th overall
The "safe" complaining is so funny. This dude is an inning eater who throws strikes and doesn't walk anyone. You know who that sounds like on the Angels the past 3-5 years?......NOBODY.
Just because he doesn't throw 97-100 people say he doesn't have the ceiling. The draft and minor leagues are littered with guys who can throw 97+. It doesn't mean those guys are Aces. They have to have other pitches, they have to be able to throw strikes, locate, have a gameplan & execute, etc. It's become this sexy thing guys can't overlook -- like big boobs but a fat chick or ugly.
Sure i want an Ace....but do you realize that's way easier said than done? Guys develop into aces....they aren't born. At this point, i'd love a #2-4 guy who can pitch past 7+ innings (much less thru 5) and stay healthy for the whole season. Shouldn't we first lower our expectations? We can't even have guys pitch 100 freaking innings!
Give me this guy....and i'll hope CRod stays healthy and because that fantastic Ace along with Otani. Maybe Jack Kochanowicz (or Yan/Soriano) becomes that Ace. But i'll be pretty happy having a bulldog strike thrower #3 (at least) set thru 2030.

Not sure if anyone of these guys will be good but have to say I’m very happy to see us adding pitching to the organization.
Now let’s add some great pitching coaches and catching to go along with it.

Maybe I'm dense, but I'm not quite following what he's saying here. "Not having to assign a good number of the pitchers they just took." I mean, I get that they don't HAVE to, technically speaking...But isn't that always the case for any team in any draft? What's the specific point he's trying to make?
