I’m not sure I’m buying what those articles are selling.  It just doesn’t make any sense logically to me.  Sure inside and close is the worst for spreading.  But outside and super close is bad on its own too.
The argument that the protests kept non-protesters at home and isolated- thus keeping the spread low is just ridiculous agenda speak.  It’s like saying I cheated on you because I love you so much (that doesn’t work).  You can be pro anti-racism and still see that there’s a problem and negative consequence to the close gather protest.  It’s not either/or.

No offensive De Horta (i'm sure you're a wonderful person), but i hope we don't see you pitch this year for the LA Angels.

Detroit signs a guy.  So now down to two teams left without a signing - TB and Angels.  Just stating a fact and updating - I’m not making a commentary either way.

"On the Road" -- I can still remember reading that as a 21 yr old roadie on a western states music tour.  Still to this day my favorite book of all-time.  Perfect book for me at that time in my life.  Hopefully Teheran treats his body better than I did at that time....lol, Good times

Should have realized it’s AngelsWin and many people can’t read - they just want to jump to their on agenda.  I never said ALL players.  I said super rich ones.  Again, reading comprehension is difficult I know. Anyway, being rich simply allows them the opportunity to opt out.  Doesn’t mean they will - but it’s an option.  And several have taken it.  Most people have no such option and are forced to do as required to get that paycheck.  Trout has that option and he’s set for 10 lifetimes - most guys don’t and need to work even though wife is pregnant.  No problems with that - just the facts.

btw, I have several super rich friends.  They  are not flaunting their riches.  But they have no need right now to work 40+ hours a week like most of us.

Again, lack of reading comprehension. I said “they are not worried about their life” - not health.  Two very different things.  Everyone worries about health.  Heck I worry about what stress at work does for my health.  That doesn’t mean I opt out of my job/work - I have to pay the bills.  But if it were life, then that’s a whole different story.

I'm sorry, but that's just not true.  Super rich athletes are NOT going to target and vons.  They have people to do that.  They have personal chefs, etc.  But regardless, even if they did do that -- it's required to surive (food, etc.).  Working and that paycheck is not required in 2020 for guys like David Price, Felix, Zimmerman, Desmond, Leake, etc.  Plus, that paycheck in 2020 is way smaller so the idea of working (when it's not financially needed) is much less desirable.  For some of these rich guys, it comes down to personal desire to win and compete.   Some though have valid family issues.  I have staff that must work from home due to family health issues.  Some others at my company have staff that also have such issues, but they can't do their job remotely from home -- so they either must come in or are on unpaid leave after using up all vacation/sick time.  Finances determine which of those two options they pick.

Exactly.  Like what from the past couple months of the owners/MLBPA negotiations fiasco, communication embarrassments and overall current contempt for both sides right gives any sane person the mindset that they can work together and fix anything.  I wouldn't bet on them working together to set a freaking the clock or putting together a 10 piece puzzle at this point in time.

Btw I support him 100% whatever he ends up doing.  At the end of your time on earth, it’ll be the missed birth and that time that matters....not the potential 2020 season results. plus let’s be honest - Angels are not winning a chip this year.

Anyone who opted out definitely should NOT be paid.  But opting out should be a viable option to each player and coach.

i have no problem with rule changes just for this bizarre 60 game season.  So the runner rule is fine imo.  If one game goes like 15-18 innings, that can wreak a teams pitching staff for a week and be a huge difference maker in a 60 game season.
I agree with Nate though that a better option would be play one extra inning and allow for ties.  I like the fun of shoot-outs for hockey; but what i don't like is how that random item for the extra point can, & usually does, greatly determine you make the playoffs and seeding.  I worry that'll happen here too -- some team might get say 5 extra inning games and get lucky with a random 5-0 record....which can easily be the difference between playoffs or not (even just 2-3 games).
I hate the idea of ties and the runner thing in a normal season.

Wouldn't this be a perfect time to have a robotic strike zone? It's kind of an experimental season anyway and I think it went pretty well in the minor league games. Maybe because I wanted the robotic strike zone yesterday makes me not objective here. I really hope it gets implemented ASAP.

Angels in 2030 reacted to ettin in How does no minor league season effect development
I truly think MLB is taking a shotgun and pointing it right at their own heads with these recent pushes to reduce the Minor Leagues in general and then questionable decisions like this where they will let Major League Baseball play but not the Minor Leagues.
"Hey we are having trouble attracting young players to the game of baseball, so let's reduce the number of Minor League outlets to not only accommodate those shrinking numbers but to also decrease our visibility and footprint around the country! Hooray!"
"Hey let's take our most valuable MLB assets and put them on the field while we let the undiscovered and underdeveloped future of our game wither away on the vine down on the farm! Hooray, we are saving money! Us owners are SO SMART!"
These takes by MLB also make me wonder why the League is thinking about expansion too? I mean if teams are shifting to younger players (as evidenced by a lot of recent extensions to young players) and letting older players walk off into retirement in their mid-30's, rather than keeping them and their built-in reputations, leadership, and, albeit declining, skills in the game, aren't they burning the candle from both ends by hacking off large swaths of the Minor Leagues and the players that play in them? Won't this decrease the available players both young and old, thus making it harder to fill Major League rosters? Won't two more expansion teams require a large number of players to fill their 40-man rosters and Minor League systems?
These moves by MLB will potentially damage the game moving forward in my opinion. I am not sure they are fully thinking this through for the long-run. As much as Claude hates him, Pujols and players like him (Yadier Molina, Matt Carpenter, et. al.) are good for the game and fans in a reasonable dose.

Respectfully Chuck I think you have simplified your argument to much.
Often, when we are young, our opinions, experiences, and thoughts are not fully developed. These racist, sexist, tropes/comments have existed since the founding of this country (and beyond that) yet there has been little progression in changing our culture in regard to them. It could easily be that Ian Desmond has finally found the courage to speak up? Just because he has now broken "bro code" shouldn't condemn him to some non-masculinity hellscape.
This so-called "attack on masculinity" has come about because men have consistently been domineering shitheads, oh since the dawn of time? White men in particular wield so much power around the world and have dominated women and minorities so much that this move towards equality offends the sensibilities and power base of men (particularly white men, again) that they are lashing out like spoiled little babies (i.e. not real men). They don't want anyone else playing in their deluxe sandbox.
Also "guessing" at Ian Desmond's thoughts or projecting how he may or may not have acted without hearing it from his own mouth, is a bit irresponsible Chuck.
Let the man speak for himself and not put words in his mouth. Life is a series of constant learning opportunities and Ian Desmond may be learning something about himself that he has decided to share with the world.

EDIT: Not jumping on you Chuck, but I have been playing OOTP so much this is the first time I've read threads here in days....

Look if it’s true then who gives a shit that he came out now.  If the clubhouses are racist or homophobic then why does it matter that it took this for him to speak out.  Wrong is wrong.  Also he has a contract through next season. So I’m sure he will see a clubhouse again.  Come on Chuck you are better than this.

I feel like I'm refreshingly cut off most of this. I only really get it on this site. Partly by geography but mostly because I ignore people whose opinions mean diddly poo to me. It's why I'm disturbed at how many Twitter videos get posted here. Who gives a flying fat rat's ass what these people have to say? If I like something I watch. If not I don't
