Smith seems to be the only member of the pen that should be in the major leagues.

I talked to an Angels exec recently and he said to expect a better showing this season from Ian Stewart.
 
I then heard Rojas mention on the air today that Stewart worked out with Rod Carew in the offseason on his swing. They worked out quite a bit from what I was told. 
 
1. Stewart had a better spring than Freese. Stewart batted .298/.370/.511 with three homers and six RBI over 47 spring at-bats.
 
2. His balance at the plate looks a lot like Josh Hamilton. Has much more raw power than Freese. 
 
3. Ian is known to be a better 3B defensively. 
 
4. Stewart was a top prospect, top draft pick, so he has the pedigree Freese doesn't have. 
 
5. Stewart is hungry after struggling with the Rockies, then cut by two teams. 
 
I know it's a small sample size to look at stats, but Stewart's at bats in ST and early on have looked a lot better than Freese. David Freese has looked awful chasing high fastballs and offering at sliders low and away. 
 
Which of the two would you like to start or would you go for a straight platoon with Stewart starting against righties and Freese against lefties?

pretty much.  The Halos have scouted this guy and in doing so they have put a value on him, done a risk assessment, considered their current obligations, and assigned a dollar value that they could live with as a franchise.  Just because some of us really, really want him and think he'd make a huge difference relative to the 4-6 year outlook for this club, there are a bunch of people with a lot more experience here that we need to trust. 
 
If they feel like he is worth the money but just can't afford it then that is a true shame. 

The decline of our farm system is the reason all the old scouting department personnel are gone. It is similar to when Stoneman took over. It will take about 5 years to hopefully replenish the system. The beginning of the decline, as i see it, was Reagins firing Eddie Bane. Then the Clay Daniels debacle. Every season since the system has seen less talent and depth.

This is the reasoning why i like Lindsey so much.  Power hitters get to AA and their #'s go down. Lindsey's power #'s went up, considerably.

I just remember a couple seasons ago everyone was clamoring for that "One Big Bat" in the lineup. Trumbo has become that run producer hitting over 30 bombs and driving in over 100.  If he is traded for a mediocre arm, everyone here will be pissed when his replacement hit 9 hr's and drives in 48. We will also miss his versatility of playing first, lf,rf,dh. Yes, his OBP isn't that good. But how many guys out there with an acceptable OBP can you find available to put up his power numbers, with his salary?  Pujols and Hamilton probably will never put up those numbers again. If anything goes up for them, it will be the number of GIDP's and K's.  The player they should be trading for a pitcher should be Kendrick. His spot will be easier to fill @ 2nd. Plus his run production should also be easier to replace.
 
That said, Dipoto will probably still trade Trumbo. And everyone will be saying he screwed the pooch again, only,this time the pooch is pressing charges.

I think green will be playing more 3b than 2b. If Freese goes on the dl, then Green plays. I have a gut feeling that Lindsey will skip AAA and play 2b.

I suppose when he comes into a game, they will play "Monster Mash".

I have a feeling Freese will spend quite a bit of time on the DL. I can then see Green playing third and Taylor Lindsey brought up to play 2nd.

Especially when he is mostly hitting 5th or 6th in the lineup.
