That was the best play I've ever seen Fletcher make.

This is why counting stats are bad and predictive data is king.  (saying this because of the 5-7 WAR comment)
Mike Trout is walking less while posting a career low OSwing% meaning he's never swung at fewer balls.   His swing% as a whole is also as a career low, meanwhile his zone% is at a career high -- what this means is he is seeing more strikes than ever and when you couple that with the fact that his barrel% is at a career high the end result is he is swinging less often and making better contact when he does swing.  This is basically the best version of Mike Trout we have seen.  Lastly  His hard hit ball % is at a career high as his his HR/FB rate as is his average exit velocity.
The big difference is he's not being pitched around because Rendon, Ohtani and whatever guy on a hot streak is following behind them is making it harder to pitch around him.
As far as his defensive numbers go -- a bad start defensively will continue to look bad until the innings pile up.  Defensive metrics as a whole are hard to gauge mostly due to there being a need for 3 or so seasons worth of data to get a real idea of whether or not a guy is a good or bad defender.

I have several concerns about the 2020 Angels.
Mike Trout is not one of them.

Being young and dumb or naive and immature are normal young male behavior. Sometimes some young males need a smack upside the head, much like an old tv with a rolling picture.

I would be absolutely ecstatic if one of them was an Angel and so would the rest of this site

does anybody think the angels are as good as the dodgers right now?
    no?
ok, then maybe that wouldn't be a good enough reason to can eppler.

the angels have a long way to go to get to where the dodgers are at as an organization.
i don't know if eppler is the guy to run that type of organization or not, but i'm pretty sure arte isn't.
i think eppler's done a lot of good things with what was an organization in massive disarray when he took over.

But he wouldn't since Howie Kendrick was playing 2nd base until 2014, two years after the trade. At the time Segura was traded away the Angels had both Aybar and Kendrick both age 28 and under contract. So either could have been traded to make room for Segura, the more likely would have been Aybar since Segura was a shortstop and with more power. What would have made more sense was to slide Segura over to third and say goodbye to Callaspo while keeping both Aybar and Kendrick.
Instead the Genius traded away Segura, Pena and Hellweg for renting Grieke for a couple months. Then he traded away Kendrick for Heaney with no one coming from the minors to replace him. So the chain of stupid trades left the Angels with neither a 3rd or 2nd baseman.
That's why keeping Segura made more sense than trading him for a rental but Dipoto was trying to make a name for himself by keeping the Angels in the playoffs for one season rather than planning to get them there for more than one. 2013 could have had Segura, Aybar and Kendrick manning the infield for another 4 years, leaving money for pitching.

Screw that.  If ohtani, Rendon, and Upton don't hit and we have 3 errors we can't blame umpires.  We suck ass

While Stassi is clearly in the lead you could argue that both Stassi and Bundy should be in a dead tie for the most surprising Angel early on.

This is all a result of La Stellas error. Idc how mediocre Simmons is at the plate... we need him.

Still feel there’s a lot of overreaction going on. We’re 14 games in. Yes, with a ~60 game season, they’re not doing good. They’re digging themselves into a hole. The stakes have changed because the season is shortened, but the game really has not.

    1) The starters have been pulled too early, too often. Just like in a typical season, they’re likely still a little limited on pitch counts.
    2) Rendon missed several games, Trout missed several games, Upton is still MIA.
    3) Ohtani was terrible on the mound and it further impacted his ability to contribute offensively.
    4) The pen has been overworked. And Robles, specifically the guy we expected to shine in high-leverage moments, has been terrible. Aside from him, I don’t think the pen has been particularly bad - every reliever has had a poor game so far. That’s typical. It’s just amplified in a 60-game season.
It’s such a weird year this year that I don’t really have expectations. I’m just glad I have baseball to watch. Hopefully it’s a big year for the kids to develop. Maybe we stumble into the playoffs and the offense gets hot and we go on a little run. Hopefully 2021 comes around and we can have a normal season.
