The Angels will not have a losing record again this season.
I hope.

One run out of the bases loaded and no outs is very disappointing.
Not if that ends up being the winning run...

So this is pretty much the same shit as last season. The Pitching walks too many guys, the hitters strike out a ton, and the defense sucks. Le sigh
Well, we probably don't have a unanimous AL MVP on the team this season, so it's not exactly the same...

Trout might not be done just yet...
-
Nice pitching today, against a damn good offense.
Have a closed-door meeting after every loss, please.

Diggstown. Toy Soldiers. Iron Eagle.
Lots of men have won an Oscar.
Who else can put up a resume like that?
Legend.

I'm not very good at predictions.
The results depend on health (obviously).
My prediction will be based on the team being relatively healthy all year.
If you predict that Trout and Rendon will be relatively healthy all year, then no, you are not very good at predictions.

The year the Angels won their third consecutive playoff series.
I think it was 2002.

Finally I hope they can at the very least stay relatively healthy.
That's the only item on my (Angels) list. If they can accomplish that, things will be just fine.

Ask yourself: If the 2009 draft were done over with the benefit of hindsight, where would Trout be drafted?
I'm willing to bet it wouldn't be 8th.

If true, this is Arte's masterpiece.
But I assume it's all bulls**t these days.

One of these years we gotta get lucky, right?
I've been telling myself that for 41 years.

IMO the Angels jumped through an incredible number of hoops for him - including trading for help at the deadline when they could have gotten a significant return of prospects for Ohtani which would have put the team in a much better position than they are in now.
This is certainly true, but whose fault is it? The Angels acted like a beta male, bending over backwards because he is so terrified of losing the hot girl, even when she gives no indication she is committed. And now she is with the more successful and popular guy. That's how it always ends.
They can blame Ohtani or they can blame themselves.

Remember when one of the greatest players of all time reached free agency and left his team to sign the biggest contract in baseball history?
I'm talking about ARod in December 2000.
The Mariners won 116 games the next season.
Do I think the Angels are going to win 116 next season?
Yes, obviously.
Just kidding.
But my point is: None of us know what is going to happen.
I remember when the Angels finished the 2001 season losing 18 of their final 20 and I thought This team will never win a championship.
And I remember 12 years and one day ago when the Angels signed Pujols and CJ Wilson on the same day and I thought This guarantees at least one World Series appearance in the next three years.
None of us know what is going to happen.
Except maybe Lou.
I miss that guy on days like today.

Giving a massive contract to a player for his decline years is something the Angels have done many, many times.
I'm not upset that they did not give one to Shohei.
Will I miss watching him play for the Angels? Of course.
But the Angels couldn't win when they were paying him well below his market value. They weren't going to win paying him 50, 60, or 70 million per year.
I am ready for the next chapter.
