Kevin Grendell is a bullpen arm to keep an eye on. Just got called up to Arkansas and is already closing out games for them. 22 year old lefty that started the year at Burlington and jumped two levels. 15.26 SO/9 in Inland Empire in 23 IP. 

after seeing some different angles I've warmed up to this trade. We needed starting options for next year and we got 2 potential pieces to our starting rotation next year. Meyers has a ton of upside to pair with Skaggs (hopefully Richards) and Nolasco can be our #5. Top prospects weren't going to be thrown at the Angels for Santiago. He's an average starter, nobody was going to sell the farm for a guy who wasn't going to be a difference maker.

If Meyer works out in the rotation and the Angels fix him he could be a top of the rotation type pitcher to go along with Richards, Heaney, Tropeano, Skaggs, Smith, etc.. That's a good young rotation to look forward to in 2018. 

I was really hoping Escobar would get shipped out for a good return. Looks like the Angels aren't going to do a damn thing 

This is the reason I thought the Angels would compete coming out of Spring Training. Tommy John decimated this rotation.

Santiago struggled, lost Heaney and Wilson for the year, lost our ace to possible tommy John , Shoemaker sucked ass, Weaver was expected to suck and definitely did. Crazy how everything went wrong.

In a highly surprising move, the Angels have promoted Hermosillo to Inland Empire.  This kid has really put it together this year.  he was expected to play for Orem again as a 21 year old.  Through a bit of a roster crunch, the Angels ended up sending him to Burlington, where he's lit the world on fire there.  Now in Advanced A Ball as a 21 year old, and Hermosillo had a heck of first game.  Perhaps this is the LF we've been waiting for. 

It's time to replace Lincecum with Skaggs and Tropeano with Nate Smith. 
Shoemaker, Skaggs, Santiago, Weaver and Smith. 
Also, Kyle McGowin is someone to watch. He has a high ERA in AAA Salt Lake, but as we know that's a tough place to pitch. Perhaps McGowin can replace one of our injured guys next season and get a cup of coffee in Sept.

For those of you who think that this is "not enough" to get for Hector, let me spin it another way.  Imagine it's 2007, and Brandon Wood is at the peak of his hype (again, put aside what he ultimately became--though I know the response will just be "well, Gallo might be a bust, too!").  He was a top 10 prospect then, just like Gallo, and roughly the same age.  The Angels were in a pennant race.  If they had traded Wood for Vicente Padilla (who was a one-time All-Star with a career 105+ ERA+ coming into that season, roughly the same age as Santiago), would you have been happy with that trade?  Can't imagine many people would say yes.

Halos should adopt these unis full time. Love this look 

Really solid start from Santiago. It will suck when he gets traded because he's a really like able guy that you can tell wants to succeed and win. 
 
With that said 2 solid prospects would be awesome.
