Not a chance. Good luck to him, but I hope he sucks ass and the dodgers choke for the entirety of that contract.

Nope. I hope he gets injured and is terrible at baseball but lives a long and rich life.

AngelsFanSince86 reacted to cals in Bobby Valentine: Perry was set to trade Ohtani at deadline, Arte stopped him
Look, the simple fact here (allegedly) is that Ohtani would have stayed an Angel if Moreno would have matched the offer.  He did not.
After the debacles of Pujols, Hamilton and Rendon, you can understand that position (to an extent).
But the insanity of trading the farm away at the end of July (and not trading Ohtani) for an outside chance of getting to the playoffs can’t be understated.  It sets the club back years.
And was it all because an aging owner, faced with his own mortality, figured he’d give it one shot before he sells or dies?  That’s a selfish and terrible way to run a sports franchise.
And it also makes it clear that had he sold to a competent group or individual last offseason, Ohtani would likely still be here as the crown jewel of their new franchise.
    So basically: Fuck you Moreno.

Yeah I thought that if he reached 45 days on the roster that would trigger it, but I think I read it wrong. I believe it has to exceed 45 days. When I counted it recently, of he stays in the roster through the end of the season he'll be at exactly 45 days.

AngelsFanSince86 reacted to Sully151 in Ohtani has cleared out his locker
Ohtani has arm fatigue- doesn’t get it checked, even when the team offered to have it done.
Ohtani tears his ACL- won’t talk about it, won’t shut it down to get surgery, but instead, keeps swinging.
Ohtani doesn’t participate in team photo- walks off the field, still won’t talk about it and sends his agent to do it for him.
Ohtani hurts his oblique- leaves Nevin and the team hanging on whether he will play every day. Chooses not to.
Ohtani clears out his locker after a loss-  possibly bailing on his teammates, who for better or worse, did what they were capable of. Bailed on the fans who have cheered for him for years. Bailed on an owner, GM, and manager who bent over backwards to make him happy.
Hot take, it kind of sounds like Ohtani is being a dick.

This is literally the opposite of what successful teams like the Astros and Rays preach. They want guys with discipline. They want guys who will make the pitcher throw more pitches. I've watched the Astros essentially waste the ABs of the first 2 batters just so they can work the count and the team can see what they are up against that day. On the other hand, the Angels will be aggressive and be out of an inning in 5-10 pitches and never forcing the pitcher to use many of his secondary pitches which means that the rest of the team doesn't get to see those pitches.
Blows my mind that as a hitting coach you can literally look around the league at the most successful offenses and see that they stress plate discipline and then turn around and tell your guys to do the opposite.

Uhhh can you read?  You accused someone of Monday morning quarterbacking, when injury risk was one of the major factors as to why some of us felt he shouldn’t be signed and traded instead.  Pay attention.  Monday Morning quarterbacking is when you don’t take a stance until AFTER it happens, then you wanna criticize.  Learn to read kid.

Angels should have traded him at the deadline. This organization is so incompetent it’s almost unbelievable.
