i totally disagree. instant gratification doesn't even enter the conversation. the question boils down to, do you want to be consistently good or sometimes great? most people, including myself would prefer to watch occasional greatness rather than perpetual goodness.

i don't think that's fair. i've seen lots of stories about the work he's put in to get over the hump. i think the problem is that he was never really that good to begin with. baseball is littered with the stories of players who had brief success to start their careers, but were unable to make the necessary adjustments to the game.

it's not that unusual. it's actually a very basic play. the error has nothing to do with it. on a fly ball catch any runner must tag up before advancing. end of story. the simple fact is that the runner on 3rd got confused in the excitement of the moment.

i don't believe i've ever said a negative word about angry arte. the guy invests in the team, any issues i've ever had with the angels weren't with angry arte. i'd love to shove that "angry arte" moniker down simers loser throat. that never fit arte in any way.

i don't have a problem with west grabbing douchebag's jersey. he was clearly blocking him with his arms outstretched and he did bump him. most managers will either cross their arms or put them straight down at their sides. it was clear what papelbon was saying with his crotch grab. it's probably not west's place to throw him out right there, but i can understand it. so screw papelbon anyway.

i've never seen as much in-season work done on a roster as i have this year with the angels. i'm not talking about roster shuffling due to injuries. i'm talking about wholesale changes to the lineup and the pitching staff. it's incredible to me how much this roster has changed from the beginning of the year versus the offseason changes. you have to give dipoto and his crew a lot of respect for those changes. i think their jobs were on the line and they got to work big time.

it's baseball etiquette to let guys go when they are offered advancement opportunities. i don't have a problem with the practice.
