  1. i hope yost keeps doing that rally killing sacrifice bunt routine, because if he does, mike and the angels are going to bury the royals.
  2. the wild card game is a playoff game. the original phrasal verb "to play off" meant to "finish what you have started." You can "play off" a glass of ale or "play off" a round of golf. From that phrasal form, we eventually got the noun form "the playoffs" and the adjective form "the playoff game."
  3. dunn over callaspo. i know callaspo got a hit in that ab, but that hit was as defensive and flukey as can be.
  4. true, but we won't be exposed to them in any way in anaheim. it will only be their ghosts.
  5. downs and ibanez. it's a homecoming game.
  6. no matter who we face, there's going to be advantages and disadvantages for both teams. in this case, the angels are going to have to contend with a strong running game, which is not our strength. however, yost's small ball bunts may cost the royals games because that shit is dumb. end of the lesson.
  7. i consider bob melvin not getting adam dunn one at bat in a 12 inning post season game a massive slight. it may not have been on purpose, but either way that is totally bush league by melvin. how can you not get a homerun threat an AB in extra innings? especially, when you know he's never played in a post season game AND he's retiring. not cool.
  8. somebody tell victor we're with him on this one. i don't tweet.
  9. a cat fight about big bang theory. that's more nerdy than anything that's ever happened on the show. personally, i find it funny sometimes and not others.
  10. if you're good with it, just delete your own account. it's called "stop posting." you shouldn't throw that out there because it reflects poorly on you, it makes you sound weak.
  11. that's a reasonable assumption, but you can find many franchises throughout sports that have relocated slightly outside their moniker to smaller communities in order to secure a better deal. tustin is a viable alternative.
  12. i think it's going to be baltimore and the angels in alcs, and that's a tough matchup for the angels.
  13. i lost both by championship games this year. i'm feeling ok about it, but it doesn't make me happy.
  14. i've always thought of him as a good manager, but it's not like i'm privy to his season long managereal decisions. as others have said, i'm kinda surprised and i don't think he'll be looking for work very long
  15. i knew that someday the marriage between mo vaughn and angel great would be complete, and now here we are.
  16. who would you have bat second? brendan ryan? stephen drew in the 2nd half? gardner was leading off and ellsbury is hitting in the middle of the lineup due to all the injuries and poor play. the reality is the yankees have a bad lineup and didn't have anybody better to play SS or the two hole. that's just the way it is. i would think if they had a decent lineup this year that gardner would leadoff and ellsbury would hit second. allowing legit middle of the order hitters to go 3,4,5. in that scenario you could understand/expect jeter to hit bottom half, but that wasn't the yankee reality this year.
  17. 2 games do not make for an "obvious" scenario, but whatever floats your boat. bear in mind that the angels backed into hfa over the last several games.
  18. you've clearly never been to the newer parks. i live in san diego and i've been to some padre games in various circumstances. the stadium kicks the ass out of the big A. it's noticeably better, from seating arrangement to environment. it's the product on the field where the angels have got the advantage, you know just that little thing.
  19. who would have imagined two months ago that the one team every playoff team would be hoping to play against in the playoffs would be the A's?
  20. no matter what, the angels are going to have to earn their way there. let the chips fall where they may.
  21. yes there was. all the teams gave him commemorative gifts, just like jeter and all the other future HOF'ers that the public knows are in their final season.
  22. it's interesting that he was open to the business idea of selling. i like arte as an owner. he wants to win, he pays players and the fan cost is not prohibitive.
  23. i think about jeter and i think of extraordinary plays at high stakes moments and him being 6th all time on mlb's hit list. i don't see how that's not enough. most people just come off as small in this debate.
