  1. I haven't watched the third episode yet but this is where I am through the first two. Hopefully the writing improves otherwise it will be another show/movie where they pay for good source material then completely waste it either by not doing it justice or completely changing it while hoping the name makes them money. As far as ratings the shows that make the news due to their ratings usually have a disproportionate amount of very high and/or very low ratings early on which can probably be ignored. I don't care about the race element and if people just ignored the complaints and didn't feed the trolls they'd eventually go away. Caught Endeavour season 8 and enjoyed it. Had a free trial of PBS for a week and tried Inspector Lewis but only got through the 1st episode. Didn't like the main characters as much as Endeavour but if I get the chance to watch more episodes maybe I'll warm up to them.
  2. As I said before never discount either parties ability to fuck up what should be a slam dunk, particularly the republicans. Instead they focus on Roe v Wade, Jan 6, Trump stealing documents and claiming the election was stolen whereas if they focused on things that actually mattered that a lot of people in the middle cared about they'd do alright. Reap what you sow.

  4. Stock market thread gets bumped by FS79 - market must have had a big swing.
  5. I agree that they could definitely wait especially when he hasn't hit arbitration but the structure would be team friendly assuming he continues to produce while guaranteeing Rodriguez at least $210M. If I'm reading it right the first 8 years are at $120M which means $15M per year covering his 5 years of remaining club control and what would be his first three years of FA. After that there's the 5 year player option for $90M which he can exercise but if he's crushing it he can opt out or use that ability to negotiate his next big contract when he's in the prime of his career. It also seems to be structured to reward him if he his producing so he can make quite a bit more. Definitely a risk because most young players will have growing pains or perhaps you find out they're injury prone but it's one we've seen teams more willing to take in recent years. Acuna signed an 8 year $100M contract in 2019 when he was 21 and the only blemish if you can call it that was his injury last year which could explain his decreased production this year. Tatis signed a 14 year $340M contract shortly after turning 22 and between his motorcycle related injuries, PED usage and the teams overall displeasure with him I'm guessing right now they're regretting it. Rodriguez is only 21 and so far at least he's seemed to be more like Trout persona wise than Tatis.
  6. If money were no object I'd buy the house next to cals and let Taylor live there rent free for shits and giggles. As far as my remaining working years there's plenty of nice places in CA that I like location wise, have great views and great weather like La Jolla but ultimately I'd want to get away from the rat race at least part of the year so split time in two locations like Adam. The second location would be on or near a lake, river or bay and have far fewer people than we have in CA. My wife's great grandfather came here from Italy and because they can trace their lineage she was able to get dual citizenship. I love the idea of retiring to somewhere in Italy in wine country where it's laid back and we can refurbish an old house or farm on some small vineyard.
  7. The grass hasn't been green for a while so I'm not overly concerned that a new owner or ownership group likely comes with some growing pains and hiccups.
  8. I remember in another thread someone said that Arte's family had no interest in taking over the franchise. If that's the case it makes sense for him to look to sell this off season if possible as he's 76 and the next owner can deal with whether to extend or trade Shohei. Hopefully a sale of the team sends a better message to the players than the last decade of futility with Moreno as the one constant.
  9. I'd consider their worst season or seasons to be ones that involved expectations they didn't live up to. I don't know of anyone outside of Angel fans that predicted them to make much noise this season.
  10. Before I clicked on the thread and saw who started it I thought this would be Itern's glorious return to the boards.
  11. If he charges it overnight I'm pretty sure that's when it's recommended as using they say peak hours we should cut back are from like 4-9pm. Anyways...
  12. Manager tendencies or preferences can make it pretty hard to plan for a draft beyond maybe your first pick but over the years you figure out how certain managers draft. The league I mentioned someone will always grab a QB before the end of round 2 and some times this starts a run where you will see maybe 3-4 QB's come off the board earlier than they should. Agreed about Robinson in Washington as everything reported on Gibson so far is that he's lacking explosiveness and has been underwhelming. For years I was a big fan of going RB RB but with fewer 3 down backs and the league becoming more of a passing league I've moved towards RB WR or RB TE if I can get the top TE. It sounds like any possible suspension for Kamara will be in 2023 so I've been kicking around the idea of going RB RB but with no flex position and 2 starting RB positions there's always RB depth on the waiver wire. I drafted CMC and Cook in 2019 when they were the top 2 RB's which carried me in my league but the odds of that happening again are extremely small. For CMC it's always been an issue of health and not skill.
  13. Honestly if he ends up a legit starting OF'er with at last decent defense I'd be happy at this point. Still plenty of time for him to turn it around.
  14. This may not get many or any responses but it's that time of year and with the Angels sucking the NFL season and fantasy football are what I'm looking forward to right now. QB looks to be really deep on paper with guys like Brady, Wilson, Prescott and Stafford in the 8-12 range followed by Rodgers and Cousins. You can always make a case against any player - is this the year father time catches up with Brady, was last year a sign Wilson is regressing, not a lot of hype for Prescott after a quiet season by his standards last year where he didn't run much, Stafford's elbow, Rodgers losing Adams, Cousins inevitably starts strong but ends up as a mediocre QB. The point is if you don't get a top 5 QB you can wait and even be one of the last guys to draft a QB. WR is also deep as once you get past the elite options there's multiple guys ranked 20+ that you can make a case they could end up top 15 receivers - G. Davis from Buffalo, Sutton or Jeudy in Denver (one has to become Wilson's favorite right?), JuJu in KC, Brown paired with his college QB in AZ, etc. KC moved Hill and Robinson is gone who accounted for 200 targets between them last year so more targets for Kelce, JuJu and Valdez Scantling along with rookie Skyy Moore. Green Bay moved Adams and they drafted Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs while so far the latter has gotten more hype after early camp and preseason results. TE position looking like it has for the last so many years or rather decade plus with a few elite options then a few guys who could make the leap and a lot of question marks. I've got the last pick in my 10 team league that has no flex, 2 RB and 3 WR spots non-PPR while passing TD's are 6 points. For picks 10 and 11 I'm thinking best available RB and Kelce which is a bit earlier than I'd normally want to take him but I know he won't make it past the end of round 2 nor will Andrews be there by the time I pick again at 30. Kelce is Mahomes most trusted receiver to start the season and while I have no doubts someone else will emerge Kelce should see plenty of targets and without a flex spot in this league having a legit TE can go a long way. For QB I'm liking Hurts which isn't going out on a limb as he's getting quite a bit of hype fantasy wise right now. He's behind one of the best O-line's in the league, adding Brown should help his passing numbers and last year before his ankle injury which cut his running production in half the last 3 or 4 weeks he ranked 6th or 7th in per game scoring along QB's. As far as RB goes the last so many years has seen fewer workhorse backs. You've got quite a few backfields that are murky right now - KC (sounds like Jones may get cut and CEH isn't getting a lot of love while Pacheco could be a sleeper), Denver (is Williams the guy or is it more of a 50/50 or 60/40 split with Gordon), Miami (Edmonds, Mostert, Michel), Buffalo (not a lot of production out of RB's the last so many years but word is they want Allen to run less), Dallas (was Zeke's lack of burst last year really injury related as Pollard looked like the quicker back), etc. I'm thinking Mixon at 10 or 11 in my league mentioned above. They tried to improve their O line and he's the unquestioned lead back in Cincy but I know last year was his best season while he's one of those guys who seems to be dealing with an injury more often than not. Any players any of you are targeting?
  15. Hopefully Abbott continues to offer bus rides to illegal immigrants that the feds let into the country so more and more end up in NY, DC, etc. I thought I was reading an onion article when they were saying it was putting too much of a strain on the local resources when it's nothing compared to what border states deal with.
  16. Yet you still thought you knew enough about him to say he was a Pfizer fanboy? Sometimes you make it too easy for cals.
  17. Big fan of the Mother Earth Cali Creamin’, especially when we can find it on tap. Tried the Cali Creamin’ Creamsicle in a can and it wasn’t bad but would like to find it on tap.
  18. Maybe they can use the leftover "workers" from the 2022 world cup in Qatar.
  19. I know I shouldn't be surprised but I can't wrap my head around how people still support Trump but to each their own. He's a complete tool and will end up as nothing more than a skid mark on this countries history. In the mean time the best thing that could happen to the R's and the country is for him to be banned from running in 2024.
  20. As some one who grew up reading comics it was cool to see X-men and spider man get made into decent movies. In the mid 90’s you wouldn’t have expected quality comic book flicks just 5 years off. The last few decades I’ve seen some others I like but many just felt like CGI filled money grabs. Different companies owning the rights to various characters and now the whole multiverse thing means they can literally go anywhere with it which to me is sloppy. 32 years between Keaton’s Batman and the twilight guy movies and there have been 6 different guys playing Batman. Seems all over the place to me and like TORS I think some were greatly overrated (people saying black panther should have won serious awards) while future ones I may catch on a flight if at all.
