I've been watching The Americans. I'm about halfway through Season 4. It's a really good show. I thought the first season was good (not great), but it definitely picked up steam in Season 2.
Once you get over the fact that the two leads are walking all over D.C. in disguises that barely hide their actual identities (the Clark Kent technique), it's a compelling show. The developing plot with their daughter is very well-acted and compelling. Matthew Rhys is an incredible actor.

@Taylor  You will not be disappointed with the rest of the series.  And the finale is fantastic.  I just finished it, and the entire series is worth it.

Agree with Toby, this is bittersweet. Although the on field performance has been wildly inconsistent I still think S-C-I-O-S-C-I-A is a good manager compared to everyone else in the League. He is up there with the best but all things, good and bad, come to an end and this is probably the right moment for him to move on or move into a different position within the Angels organization.
It will be interesting to see whom they target as the next GM and I trust Billy to make a good decision so it is in the right hands.
Finally for those of you happy to see him go I will go with the old cautionary, it is not always green on the other side of the hill.
Let's hope Billy picks a winner that can fill Mike's shoes on the battlefield.
Best of luck to Mike and his family no matter where they end up. Hopefully they stay within the organization. Thanks for everything Mike!

Sosh has been the manager for pretty much my entire tenure as a fan. Technically I started "following" during the early nineties but was too young to really remember much. I do clearly remember 1995 bringing the suck. But 2000 was when I started getting truly invested in how well the team was doing and knowing all the players and all that.
When 2002 happened, I was definitely blessed. I certainly hadn't carried the burden of disappointment on my shoulders the way my dad had, and the way so many of you had, but it was still an incredibly special moment that I'll remember and cherish for the rest of my life. Scioscia was right there in the middle of it all.
In a sense, Mike Scioscia is more synonymous with the Angels than anyone, at least from my perspective. Not Percival, not Erstad, not GA, or K-Rod or Weaver. Not Salmon. Mike has been in the dugout since I was an annoying, bratty kid. He was there through the good and the bad. Though we tend to forget just how much good there truly was.
His decisions have caused so many emotions over the years. Mostly frustration. Sometimes anger. Other times complete confusion. But another one has consistently hidden in the back of my mind, and it's shame. No, not shame for Mike or for the team, but for myself. It's natural to completely overlook decisions a manager makes that ultimately help the team. In fact, we often see something good happening IN SPITE of his decisions. But the shame I've felt has been through all my years of complaining over every little decision, every lineup, every pitching change, and never did I think to correct myself when his decisions worked out. Considering his career record, I'd say he made the right decision more often than not. After all, he was the manager. Not me. There's a good reason for that.
Anyway, while I am fully on board with getting a new manager and moving on from Scioscia, I can't shake this bittersweet feeling that tightens around my chest. It's time to move on. It's time. But I will always respect Scioscia as the greatest manager in Angels history and the only manager to lead this team to a World Series ring.
For better or worse, the dugout won't be the same without him. And neither will the Angels.

I will never get why people hate Gubi so much.  Yes he points out obvious baseball things, that is his job, announcers are not there to pander to the hardcore fans...
I actually like Gubi more than Victor.

katrinab reacted to Dave Saltzer in AngelsWin.com Today: Thank You Arte
We need to say thank you to Arte for this as much as we praise Eppler. Sure, it's easy to see this as a battle between two GMs, but Arte personally gets involved in these big deals. It's as much about Arte making and living up to his handshakes and agreements, having no debt on the team, and the ability to pay for it, as it was Eppler making the sales pitch. I think that's one of the deciding factors for us--a committed and involved owner who wants to field a championship team.

Sure, the results on the field haven't matched our desires, but never underestimate how much Arte wants to win and field a champion.

    Wow! What great news!

    Thanks Arte.

katrinab reacted to T.G. in OC Register: Angels’ Albert Pujols focused on a healthy winter and a bounceback in ’18
There's something to be said about showing up every day, regardless of your physical condition.  We have all worked with people who will make or take any excuse available to not "show up."  I admire Albert because he shows up and doesn't make excuses. Sure, he gets defensive once in a while - but we all do that from time to time.  I don't think he gets nearly enough credit for just showing up despite some pretty serious issues with his lower half.
I believe he will be in better shape and be better prepared for 2018.  I want to see that in the worst way.  I won't have unreasonable expectations, but I will expect better.  I believe Albert expects better.
I give a lot of respect to people who have an amazing work ethic. If he fails, it won't be for a lack of effort.
2018 is the turning point.  I'm pulling for him to succeed.

Whether they mean it or not, it's disrespectful to everyone who wore a uniform and fought for them.
I'm not saying protesting or making a statement is wrong. I'm saying that doing this during the national anthem is wrong place-wrong time.

I like the guy.  I love the cockiness... "so what if im battling the mendoza line, i just nailed your ass" .... absolutely love the intensity.  I think too many baseball players are too disconnected myself so im all for it.
Not to mention the guy weve had in the second half has gotten it done, well aside from the aforementioned avg.  Im 100% ok with him as the backup 1b/3b next year right now.
