This is really disappointing, I really like this guy and he can be a difference maker. We should have signed a stronger shortstop in the off season when many were available, and then we would have had a cushion. Season ending injuries happen every year to virtually every team. The Angels aren't there yet in having effective team depth.
If we had signed a SS he'd probably have Ebola by now.

It's like everyone but Soto, Turner, and Scherzer are either out of the league or are now bums from the 2019 Nationals.
If you're trying to suggest we give Howie Kendrick $15M for two more years, I say yes.

Angels really are that team who get stuck footing the bill for all the good things players did elsewhere.
We've had some pretty bad luck lately, but it works out every now and then. Like Torii Hunter or Bobby Abreu. Actually those might be the last two decent multi-year position player signings we've had.

I mean there's a chance he won't be a bust still, but it doesn't look great. Dude is 32 and beginning to show a trend of regular injuries. It's honestly hard to assess if he's "actually" declining in terms of skill because he's never really healthy enough to give us a clear picture of where he's at over a long period of time. But I think it's safe to say that 32 year old players rarely get better. So an absolute best case scenario is that Rendon suddenly gets healthy for the rest of this year and stays that way for the next few years, all while putting up numbers similar to what he did 3-5 years ago.
But we all know how this usually goes. Guys that suddenly start getting hurt a lot, or start carrying around nagging injuries as they enter their 30s don't usually find consistent health again and play at a high level for several more years. Dude is trending downward on that front, and while it's possible that will all improve it's not very likely it will.
In light of recent news I agree.

Well, that seemed predictable.

That is on Minasian, not Velasquez.. Velasquez is who he is. Minasian does a shitty job at finding role players.
Fully agreed there. In an org with reasonable depth, Velasquez is minor league depth or the last guy on the bench as a late-inning defensive replacement.

Pretty big difference between a MOTO bat signed to a massive contract and a random filler guy signed to bat 8th/9th.
But like it'd be cool if the random filler guy signed to bat 8th/9th was playing good defense AND slashing like .700
I know it sounds like that's asking too much of the world, but I've seen it before.

Pretty shitty AB there. Complaining about calls that were clearly strikes, and keeping the bat on his shoulder when they desperately needed a hit. Just gave the AB away.

I’d honestly run Adell here and hope for an error.

MLB contracted with nike to make a special uniform called "city connect" or some nonsense like that. last year it included hideous unveilings for boston, both chicago teams, san fran, and the dodgers. this year has included miami, arizona, houston, the angels and a couple others. they look hideous. it's essentially like what nike did with the NBA, where each team now has like 6 different jerseys.
there are a lot of good uniform manufacturers out there. Nike, however, is not one of them.
Meh, it’s kind of a mixed bag with these. Some are atrocious, like the White Sox; and some are pretty good, like KC and Houston. I’d be good with the Angels design too if it were more of a bright white rather than that weird ass cream color that we all as a nation decided to try, then immediately ditch, in like 1997.

I'm going to feel really bad for you guys when this makes no difference.
Yeah, I doubt it changes anything really. I've heard Nevin is a bit of a douche from a few people over the years, but I doubt that affects his ability to win baseball games much. That said, if you lose 12 straight, especially the way the Angels have been losing, somebody has to take the blame.

Speaking of Joe Mauer, I believe @Don still needs to make good on his bet.
My stance has never changed. One of those dudes schedules the appointment, and I’ll be there. It comes up every few months, and someone swears they’re gonna take the lead on scheduling it, then crickets.

We can start by placing armed men in our schools. Not the cowardly Florida types but Alpha makes ready to fulfill there God given roles as leaders and defenders of the flock. Unfortunately most of the men in our schools are skinny jeaned Betas.
You thinking Giulias or Stelvias?

I booked my flights so I am def in. Thanks for the prompt Chuck. @Chuckster70
Going to ATL out of LAX (stopping in Vegas) on 7/22 late night, then to KC on Monday (7/25) Afternoon, then home Early Wednesday (7/27) Morning. I may go to both KC games, we'll see.
I have 2 tickets for 7/24 afternoon game in Atlanta. And 2 good tickets for 7/26 in KC.
Anyone here near KC?
Yeah, I live in KC. I'll probably be going to a couple games during that series. Might have some family flying out to attend as well.

If you told me in late March that this team would be 24-16 through 40 games I would’ve been ecstatic.
