Ok I'll see what I can do...

    The Three Body Problem

    It was dog shit.

Of course what would you expect when you ask Hollywood's two biggest fuck ups to adapt a chitty Chinese scifi novel. The whole thing is just amateur hour. D&D cannot write for shit, and they should really stop trying to.

I appreciate the contribution. I watched the whole thing too, and I didn’t hate it, but definitely saw some plot holes and writing deficiencies in there. I didn’t think the casting was great either. Thought the season was ok all in all, but it didn’t really live up to the hype in my opinion.

If I get drafted Im shooting Blarg first.

I don’t think that’s how drafts work. You have to get your head shaved and go to basic training first, and then someone has to try to make Blarg a communist…. And then all bets are off.

In real time, don't blame the call being missed, it was close. Replay clearly showed he was safe and was an easy overturn.

I’ve seen several that seemed to be clearly overturnable on replay that ended up being upheld in years past. That one was close enough that I thought they’d side with the ump. Glad they seem to be doing a better job with their standard to overturn this year.

The ship lost power twice before it hit the bridge. I'm thinking maintenance might be the issue here.

There’s a show on the Smithsonian Channel (or something like it) called Disasters at Sea. Pretty good actually. But the first half of each episode is sort of the story of a modern maritime disaster, then the second half is a deeper investigation into what exactly caused it. I’d say failure to adequately address maintenance needs ends up being the cause somewhere around two thirds of the time, followed by (and sometimes in conjunction with) human error. After that comes inherent design flaws, and way way way at the bottom of the list is completely unforeseeable happenstance. Basically, almost all of these boil down to companies trying to cut corners or someone screwing up at their job.

Yes, it’s a shame that area has been ruined by blacks and their mayor. I haven’t been downtown in over 10 years.

I work with a Mexican that I’ve known for 15 years. He caught TDS and turned into a lefty while I was away. I pissed him off this morning talking about how violence has ruined the place and the Royals are ignorant for building a new stadium in that jungle versus the white suburbs.

The area where the Royals play now is way sketchier than downtown. East of Troost is and always has been a shithole, but anywhere west of Troost and between 435 and the river is perfectly fine day to day, and has been for ten years. It’s only when people from the east side of town (or KCK) show up en masse for events (like today, or summer weekend nights in Westport) that shit like this happens. I’d bet a large sum of money the shooters from today have home addresses either east of Troost or somewhere in Wyandotte County. As soon as I heard there were multiple people involved I was pretty sure of that.

    Baby Driver

have seen it mentioned here a few times over the years and found it on AMC or TBS or whatever last night. interesting story.

the driving scenes were pretty intense, and i'm not sure how the tires survived very many of those takes.

the mike myers masks were funny.

The first ten minutes or so of that movie is absolutely masterful. One of the better heist/action sequences ever made.
