Absolutely, but why would the Red Sox give any consideration to something like this? I have to assume Houck’s trade value is far more than Rengifo’s.

Other people's kids. I'm the proudest dad out there, but try to refrain about talking about my kids too much because I find it super annoying when other people talk up and brag about what their kids are doing/have done.
"Oh, Jahxsin is now taking private at-home piano lessons from this Czech-born Juliard music teacher with a fancy Russian name. She's super expensive and we had to buy a grand piano but he's starting to like it and not throwing a fit as much!"
"Yeah, StellaAvaMarie was hand-picked out of 4 kids in her class to lead the pledge of allegiance today. And last week she was the class line leader! I'm super proud of all her accomplishments!"

Agreed. I have always felt the guy was pretty consistently praised for his work ethic and attitude. @Tayloris reaching on this.

The Angels got 1 fWAR from SS last year and the Marlins got 2 fWAR from SS.  fWAR has Rojas at 1.2 WAR for 2022 because bWAR gave him a ton more value for his defense.  fWAR uses statcast data for it's defensive calc and I find it to be more consistent because it takes starting position of the player into account.  With the shift going away, that may even things out a bit.
Either way, he had a stellar defensive season in 2022 yet it was an outlier to pretty much the rest of his career.  Entering his age 34 season, I wouldn't bank on that again and his bat tailed off a fair amount last year.
Overall, he's about a 1.5 win player.   Fletcher actually has similar rate stats both offensively and defensively and there's some hope for him to show more of the bat he's had in the past.
Point is, we essentially already have Rojas.

And perhaps Moniak as well.  Both he and Adell need everyday at bats if they have any chance at at a future.
Another tidbit on phillips - He was shifted on 106 of the 107 PA he put the ball in play.  And he was 0 fer last year in his 34 abs vs. lefties.  He's 8 for 110 his last two years vs. LHers.
He's not gonna turn into a .280 hitter or anything, but there's some opportunity to improve him a bit.
The year before vs. RHers, his slash was .244/.337/.533 with a wRC+ of 138.   I'll take that all day.
Again, I'm ok with it as long as it allows for another move.

I would have preferred an option with more upside, as I am guessing Moniak can perform as well as this guy. But he is costing barely more than league minimum, so no real risk here.

This is a brilliant post. I’m not sure you get the credit you deserve. If you were a baseball player, you’d be Stan Musial. Nobody every really talks about Stan, but he is 11th in all time WAR. Quietly, you get the job done day in and day out.

I chose starter, and the reason why is because multiple relief pitchers would fall into a price index where they really aren't that effective, aside from Chafin. But another starting pitcher, allows the Angels to use guys like Barria, Suarez, Rodriguez, Canning, etc... In bullpen roles.
It helps the rotation and and bullpen.

Exactly what I was thinking - the first name that came to mind. He put up a 108 OPS+ his first five seasons, capped by his massive breakout year at age 26. Then he never had another even 100 OPS+ season and was at 82 for the remainder of his career.
