I'll step in here for a moment and let you know what's worked for me. Cooking almost everything I eat from scratch. I try to stay away from anything that is processed. That doesn't mean I don't eat processed foods, I just try to find the alternatives.
I wait at least an hour after I'm hungry before eating. If I think I'm hungry, I don't grab something then and there, I wait. Sometimes it's an hour, sometimes longer. You would be amazed at how those random calories add up over the course of time.
I try to stay away from fried foods (which is an extension of the first paragraph) as well as soda. But if I do hit a fast food joint, I get the sandwich and pass on the side. If I am thirsty, I get the brewed Iced Tea instead of the soda. Same thing goes for coffee in the morning. I get the straight black coffee instead of the coffee milkshake.
Instead of grabbing a bag of chips, I try to get some veggies.
When I do eat, I don't go back for seconds on anything. Get a plate, make a nice meal out of it and be satisfied with what you can get onto it in one go.
    I hardly ever get desert.
When it comes to exercise, again, it's the little things that help. Don't take the elevator or escalator a couple of flights when there's the stairs. Don't wait in the parking lot for the front space, park further out and walk. Don't drive a block, walk instead.
It all comes down to those little decisions, one after another that add up faster than you think.
Oh, and when it comes to "cheating", don't. Yeah right.... If you do slip up, don't give yourself the greenlight to blow it for the rest of the day. Accept the slip up and return to your regularly scheduled program. You don't need to add the "screw it's" to the slip up.
Take what you will from this post, leave the rest. And good luck to everyone here, I know, it's a struggle. Stay strong.

I heard at least two of the three are black.  Is that true?  if so, where is the good Reverend Sharpton?  Is Obama going to comment, too?

This is truly an unbelievable story.  So many human beings are just disgusting and don't deserve a place on this planet.

Big Calhoun fan.  Complete player.  Would love to see him get a legit shot next year.  Personally, I'd trade Trumbo for pitching.

at a time when we are so thin in starting pitching, i can't see the wisdom in trading away a guy who's doing well for us, and then hoping he liked it here enough to come back.

keep him, and make a strong offer to re-sign him this winter.

We got trout around where a comp pick is. Unless we get a near major league ready arm with upside, it's not worth it.

The more he pitches like he did today, the higher his price tag will be. He's been consistently solid all season. I think someone will offer 5yr/$65M
We should extend him a qualifying offer. The first round pick we receive will be far more valuable than a prospect we get back in a trade.

They haven't had a lot of leads to give the bullpen the chance to have a lot of BS.

This is the kind of shit that drives me crazy about Scioscia.  Calhoun is clearly the higher-ceiling player.  Why the fu*k isn't he playing every day?

I think this team is far better than it is shown this year.  If Pujols can come back healthy and Hamilton can hit more like he has the last month than the first few months, the offense could go from being good to being one of the best in the league.  I think a starting four of Weaver/Wilson/Vargas/Richards is solid enough to keep us competitive (with a good offense, that is).  Of course, I am by no means assuming Vargas will be an easy re-sign, and the team definitely needs to bring in another high end arm to fill out the rotation.

The bullpen will be far trickier to repair, IMO.  Our two best relief pitchers have been DDLR and Kohn, and both of those guys should be the third or fourth setup arms out of the pen, not the first or second.  They really must add two top relief pitchers, and I think that is going to be very hard to do.

But luck plays into things as well, and I expect it will be a component next year.

The man is earning a spot in the rotation next year for sure and this is great news.  It is one less need to fill.

They will just need to fill two rotation spots for 2014.

My guess is they will attempt to trade for a starter and then they'll need to sign one.  There are some decent available via FA next year.

Very interests stuff. Helps To confirm my suspicions Arte has no idea what he is doing, is temperamental and a total micromanager.
Also provides more evidence that Scioscia was GM - not Reagins - and that he really must be replaced.

There is more concrete evidence that points to the murder of Lane being race-related than Martin's. One of the murderer's tweets claims that he hates 90% of white people. Didn't see anything from Zimmerman like that towards black people.

And btw, I'm not making this racial or do I support making this racial, I am just disgusted by the ****ing media and the leaders of the black communities who right away wanted to make Treyvon incident racial, but refuse to even question the motives here or in the beating of the WWII vet. I'm sick of this double standard bullshit.

I don't think people are genuinely trying to bring race into this. I think it's more of a sarcastic attempt to show that race shouldn't be brought into other issues like the Zimmerman case. I think it's showing how ridiculous it is when others throw the race card around irresponsibly.

If you need a starting pitching upgrade, those 6 starts, with a quality veteran like Vargas (assuming he's healthy), might be the difference in getting you into the playoffs...But if you can't get anything much in return, hold on to him and make him a qualifying offer in the offseason...
