Pablo reacted to stevestevens in Moustakas question
Not sure about moose. I for one don't want to see a decrease in the doubles production for 2019.

Pablo reacted to Docwaukee in Your concerns regarding 2019 Angels
1. SP. far and away my biggest concern.
Harvey had a 4.94 era in 155ip last year and 340ip over the last 3 years with an era above 5.
Cahill has pitched 413 innings over the last 5 years.
Skaggs has 260ip in the last 3 years and spent time on the DL last year
Heaney threw 180ip last year after throwing 27 the previous two years.
Barria just finished his rookie year and about 130ip in the majors and about 150 total. The highest of his career. His peripherals weren't great.
Our primary depth is:
Tropeano - terrible year with 1/2 of it spent on the DL.
Felix Pena - DFA pickup entering age 29 season with 136 ip in his career at the major league level. Made 17 starts. Hadn't started since 2015.
Canning - Rookie (#2 ceiling but still needs some decent seasoning)
Suarez - Rookie #3/4 ceiling. gives up a lot of hits.
Bridwell - smoke and mirrors two years ago. the smoke cleared and the mirrors broke last year.
Dillon Peters - who the F knows. he's 5'9" and left handed. It's like my wife shrunk and inch, gained 70 pounds and grabbed a baseball glove.
I like the upside of pretty much every one of those players. I don't trust a single one.
2. The pen is one guy short. at least. we could walk a ton of guys back there. but this is a distant second.
3. Everything else including how much will Albert play, and if the rebound potential can actually do so. I think at least 2 of 4 will rebound and our offense will be very good.

Worst off-season this year will be the team that gives Machado a 10 year contract.

Pablo reacted to Docwaukee in Angels sign C Jonathan Lucroy to 1yr/$3.35M deal
Jesus Christ. I go to dinner for a few hours and this whole place goes to shit. What I've learned from this thread is that we signed Lucroy and all kinds of stupid took over. Oh and Thomas Sutpen built the Celinto Catayente Towers. It's quite a fine example, in fact. I recommend that next time you're up that way that you drop in and take a gander at it yourself. It's near the soccer stadium somewhere in the baltic region.

Pablo reacted to NJHalo in David Robertson
Going with our current M-O, why not offer him a one year deal at a healthy price? This will allow him to reestablish himself as a closer (in pitcher friendly AL West parks vs. AL East bandboxes) , and raise his bar as far as salary expectations go.
Will also allow us to see what we've got with Anderson and the young guys, and allow Middleton a year to recoup.

Pablo reacted to TroutField in Angels sign C Jonathan Lucroy to 1yr/$3.35M deal
Well I’m assuming you are Thomas Sutpen, probably go by Tom for short, just a guess though. Don’t know anything about you other than you act like a weirdo on a baseball message board but whatever, you got more time on your hands than me lol whatever makes you happy

Pablo got a reaction from Jay in Angels sign Trevor Cahill
Gotta say I like this move better than the Harvey signing. Say what you will about fantasy sites (and they are certainly flawed), but I've always had alot of respect for Matthew Pouliot over at rotoworld. In his September preview for 2019, he listed as the #67 SP, with Matt Harvey #94. The October Fangraphs ranking has Trevor at #80, Harvey not in the top 100.
I guess I can see Cahill as a legit #3 SP, which I CAN'T see Harvey as. I mean, at one time Harvey was a quality pitcher; now, he's just who he is. l think in his case, perception is trailing reality. But in Cahill, you don't have to go back 'before he was injured', you can just look at what he did last year and see he's a solid #3; with a shot at being better, but a better shot of being injured.
Final comment on Harvey; I think 'potential' carries alot of weight with a rookie who is just starting to put it all together; much less impressive when applied to a guy who, in his prime was very good, but now is a bit of a broken down husk.

Love this signing! Better than the Harvey signing, which was also good.
Cahill has better 2018 stats, and career stats, than Skaggs and Heaney.

Yes, I know.

It's not the arm I'm worried about; it's the 10 cent brain.
Oh, and it's also the arm.

He will tag out runners trying to advance from 3B to home by running in from the outfield and tagging them.

the last thing I'd want them to do is spend money just because they have it. Stash it away and use it later when it makes more sense.
