Watching him mash on the Rangers (at least for the first half) was terribly tough. When he came to Anaheim on the Rangers and destroyed us I found myself cheering for him like a kid in awe. Every at bat he had here the stadium stopped to watch. Greatest FA signing we have ever had. I'm bummed we couldn't get him a ring.

If this is true what a dummy. If you want to be an Angel then awesome. Go chase a ring on a playoff run and net the Angels a prospect to make them better and resign with us.

We should have offered arbitration and gotten a draft pick.  No reason to help a rival.  And we know how much that statement retire or Ranger had any validity now that he is pitching for the Blue Jays.

So, Mike Scioscia overruled the GM and brought up the guy he wanted to play 2B?  Did he also overrule the GM when he claimed Nelson off waivers?  Was it MS that called up Cowgill over Kalhoun first?  Does the GM have ANY control over player decisions or was he full of shit when he said he had the final say?   Owner overrules him on Hamilton, manager gets to decide who get's called up, so the only thing that was his decision seems to be letting Greinke go and bringing in the fearsome foursome...   But that's not his fault either cause there weren't any other options.  BTW, did MS orchestrate the Morales trade because let's be real, he seems to be the guy pulling all the strings according to people here.

Why didn't he just pull Downs like the Astros manager did earlier this year?

He got rid of All Star Jean Segura (hitting .325)
He got rid of the team leader and All Star Torii Hunter (hitting .315)
    He signed Blanton.
    He signed Madson.
    He signed Burnett.
    He signed Lowe.
He extended and overpaid for Aybar.
    He overpaid Pujols and Hamilton.
He traded Chatwood (2.56 era) for Iannetta (hitting .211 & 10% CS)
He's been given the benefit of a rather large payroll and failed.
    Arizona doesn't miss Jerry Dipoto.
None of Tony Reagins teams ever trailed Oakland by 11 games.

FWIW I predicted that 2013 Angels season = 2000 Angels season long before it started. That's looking about right...

As I said on Twitter, if you count Maris' cheap 315 foot HR's to RF in Old Yankee Stadium against predominantly white competition with a few African American and Latin Americans mixed in, then you have to count Bonds' chemically enhanced 450 foot shots against considerably better competition.

Like it or not, Barry Bonds is the single season HR record holder.

Angels are a top 3 MLB team right now. Question is the same as last year. Have they dug too big of a hole? Time will tell. PB in the outfield and Vargas in the rotation are needed very badly. I felt so good for Hamilton tonight and on the 4th.

We know it's tough for you to hear but you're currently hurting the team. You need to take a couple of weeks off to give your foot and knee a rest and come back fresh after the All Star Break. Please put your pride and ego aside and try to get healthy for a stretch run. We know your foot hurts, we get it, so do right thing and take a break.
    Signed,
    Your Teammates

Oddly, Rosie Napravnik was left off.  She's having a huge year.  And Rafael Bejarano was left off, probably because he rides on the West Coast.

Extremely good is difficult to get. Good isn't easy to get. Good and cheap is difficult to get.
When I thought Pujols and then Hamilton would be very good for a while, I was more than open to trading Trumbo. Trumbo is better now, Morales is gone, and the two that were supposed to be extremely good haven't been. I'm open to trading anyone but Trumbo isn't easily replaceable, especially when you consider the money.

Trumbo might be the best value for any power hitting 1b in the MLB not named Goldschmidt. His arm and D are much better than average. His flexibility to play CO makes him even more valuable especially in the NL.

He would be a huge upgrade for the Rockies over Helton.
