So many asshat Angels fans pissed at Ohtani on Twitter after hearing the details of his contract, lmfao.  Not his fault he’s way more serious about winning than our owner

My guess is the explanation is "We didn't want to pay him $700M".  I don't think it's that hard to understand.  I don't think they owe us anything.

This rant is on point.  Without checking, it just feels like the bottom of the order has generated more RBI's than the top.   We all hope that Trout and Ohtani would be clutch like Reggie and Mantle, but they have not shown the aptitude.
As many guys have pointed out, the team average with RISP (especially in high leverage situations) is sub par.  Neither Shohei or Trout seem to bother pitchers with the game on the line.   The two probably have more K's than RBi's.
 I do hope the Angels can keep Ohtani, but only if he agrees to sign and not become a free agent.   If he hasn't signed by the trade deadline, then he should be traded to some east coast team.
His true value is probably the same contract Trout got.  Nothing more.  But I am sure that won't stop teams from over paying.
Ohtani hanging the threat of FA over the Angels head is a distraction.
 
 

Ohtani IMHO just isn't as valuable to us as he is to other actual contenders.  We need to either spend huge in FA, or refresh our team with some young talent eventually.  Since Arte likely isn't going to support a $300M payroll anytime soon, if guys like O'Hoppe/Neto can become good young players and Adell can become anything, that would go a long ways on top of a package of young, impact talent from an Ohtani trade.
I love Shohei and he's a once in a lifetime player, but we've likely already benefited from his best years and this isn't the NBA.  I want to maybe, actually, win baseball games again at some point and become a playoff team again.   Strapping ourselves to a half billion contract for a 29 year old probably isn't the first stop towards that goal.

If you spent more than a minute on Twitter following Angels fans you’d come to the conclusion that Arte is the cheapest owner in MLB and he’s the devil himself. 
 
 

Current or new ownership needs to approach Ohtani before the start of the season IMO and ask him if he'd sign an extension for $_____ and if he won't and either current or new ownership cannot afford him they really need to bring in a haul of prospects and young players ready now before the start of the season. 
That's just my take.
I hope the Angels make Ohtani an Angel for life, but if he wants to get paid and try his luck for a Championship elsewhere, you need to get a good return.

This is the least interested I've been in the mlb playoffs in awhile.  I guess I'll cheer for the phils but mostly cuz I'd rather the Astros not win but at this point I really just want it to be over so we can start to hear about the sale of the team.  

Pujols is and always was good for the culture of an organization. Now the Angels get that benefit in the front office, without eating a roster spot. I'm good with that.

A lot of our hitters have no problem hitting into the shift, so I'm not really sure what Albert would add as our hitting coach.

One of the nicest things about the Big A, to date, has been the ability to get in and out of the stadium. Having parking structures will probably make it worse than trying to get out of Dodger Stadium.

We've gone through this before.  I don't want any problems watching tv, I dvr everything, and I don't want any damn drops that I always read about with subscription services.
I pay $1,200 a year to watch through my satellite with 300 channels.  I make enough money, I'm not fucking around with splitting subscriptions with my aunt, getting vpn subscriptions, and all the other hoops that 'subscriber guy' has to jump through.
