This and it's Dombrowski so I'm not surprised. See the Verlander deal

kevinb got a reaction from LBHalos17 in MLB bans home plate collisions starting in 2014
They don't do it to injure the catcher they do it to knock the ball out of his hands so they score a run.

kevinb got a reaction from AngelsAndRamsFan in LA Times: Angels have sights set on Matt Garza and Raul Ibanez
I don't know how I feel about Ibanez or Garza. Ibanez is 41 and he doesn't really get on base all that well which this team really lacks. Garza seems decent or middle of the road but I would rather not pay a ton of money for someone who is a 3 or 4 starter. I would rather have the DH have more versatility. Who knows how much time Pujols will be playing at first.

Just call it the Buster Posey rule and be done with it.

kevinb reacted to Angelsjunky in Raul Ibanez heading to Angels
Not a fan of this move. I'd rather see the Angels go after a higher OBP guy than SLG. Ibanez is Trumbo, but without any upside. Maybe if he can be had for $2-3MM and part-time play.

kevinb reacted to FabulousFabregas in Goodbye Trumbo
They always let my favorites go. Sucks, I hope he has a great career.

kevinb reacted to jshep in Angels waiting for SP price to drop + NO interest in Colon
Yep.
It's clear the team is in win-now mode, particularly with jobs on the line at this point, but they also haven't made the current roster good enough to actually WIN NOW.
As much as I don't like a lot of the moves they've made in the process of going into that mode, the only thing worse at this point would be clear win-now and worry about the future later type moves like the Freese trade or whatever not actually leading to anything positive.
Go all in if you want, odds are most of us won't like what follows, but whatever. Rebuild if you want. But this team kind of seems stuck in the middle, not entirely sure what they're trying to do. And I don't think that does the present or the future any good.

kevinb reacted to WallyWorld in Mariners sign Cano to 10yr/$240 mill deal
you're absolutely ridiculous. stop with the self righteousness and grow up. these are professional athletes trying to maximize the amount of money they make. it's a business. He's not hurting anyone, he's not selling sub-prime mortgages, he's not manipulating the stock market - he's playing for a different baseball team that will pay him more money. Jesus.

kevinb reacted to tdawg87 in Nationals acquire Doug Fister
Did Chuck really just try to defend our completely destroyed farm system?
I mean, it's not really "whining". This system is a mess and that is a fact. We have literally no pieces to offer in a trade and most of the "depth" will be lucky to ever see a MLB game.
-
kevinb reacted to Docwaukee in Nationals acquire Doug Fister
It's really sucked that none of those guys have been to the playoffs as Angels
Every gm tries to help their team win Chuck. Some are better at it than others.

kevinb got a reaction from xboom28x in Would You Be Happy If The Angels Signed Colon & Arroyo?
No thanks to over 37 year old pitchers. One who is a huge PED steroid boy and another has pitched in the NL for the last 7 years pass!

kevinb got a reaction from YouthofToday in Bourjos traded to Cardinals
Terrible trade! The GM of this team has absolutely no plan and I have said that from the beginning. We didn't need Pujols and we didn't need Hamilton. What was the point trading Callaspo for a huge 2nd/3rd baseman if you didn't plan on playing him at 3rd. There is no way Howie's production will be replaced by Green at 2nd if he is next to be traded. You traded the best CF in baseball for a worse Callaspo at third who was in the NL who will need a "year" to adjust to AL pitching lol. On top of that we traded a good prospect for a terrible relief pitcher. Seriously fire Dipoto the guy has no plan and just does awful moves.

kevinb got a reaction from AZMike in For those who support the trade
Pujols is running this organization. Probably spearheaded this move. Needed his buddy here because he has no friends on this team. Thats what happens when your a terrible team mate like Albert

kevinb reacted to Angelsjunky in Guys, tell me about Bourjos.
He's basically Darin Erstad without the 2000 season. He's about average as a hitter, maybe a bit above, and a great center fielder. And I mean great.
You guys won this, and it isn't even close. Enjoy him - he's a lot of fun to watch.

kevinb reacted to Angelsjunky in Dave Cameron (Fangraphs) on the trade
Read about it here.
Cameron nails it here:
"The Angels needed a third baseman, I guess, but they traded a good player for a worse player who costs more. Anaheim keeps spinning their wheels, while the Cardinals keep marching on towards sustained excellence. Some things really do stay the same."
Its almost embarrassing. I'd say that the Angels are on their way to becoming a joke of a franchise, but the thing is the last four years have been terrible so we're already there. This trade just confirms it. I was hoping that we'd see a shift in gears this off-season, but it looks like more Dipoto being Dipoto.

kevinb got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Royals to sign Jason Vargas
So glad we offered him that arbitration or whatever offer to get a first round pick instead of declining it and just getting nothing. Angels know how to run an organization.
-
kevinb reacted to Caralho in Royals to sign Jason Vargas
The Angels should have thrown Vargas a qualifying offer but for some odd reason the Angels don't believe in getting draft picks.

kevinb got a reaction from The Ghost of Bob Starr in And in Arod news
Baseball is the most corrupt sport of all time. I can't stand everyone who is in control of this sport. Baseball Commissioner and the owners are all at fault here. They basically allowed steroids and PED use and the only reason they are "trying" to be good right now is because they want to show the public they care and they are doing this to A Rod in the end of his career. There is no way they would do this kind of crap to anyone who has the entire career left in baseball. I can't stand A Rod but this whole thing smells of crap. Paying someone to testify and giving him a free pass? Really? Creeps me out thinking of baseball, and how this sport is run.

kevinb reacted to jshep in Tigers trade Prince Fielder for Ian Kinsler
I find it kind of odd how some here are simultaneously convinced that 2013 Fielder is all you'll get at this point, and that Pujols and Hamilton will get better than they have been.
Also, wasn't Kinsler overrated and signed to a bad contract like a matter of weeks ago?
-
kevinb reacted to WallyWorld in Tigers trade Prince Fielder for Ian Kinsler
the nutswingers on this board continue to astound me.
put whatever spin you want on it, a division rival just got better. not to mention, so did another AL team that could be competition for a WC spot. Bad news for the Halos.

Why is Selig refusing to testify? I'll think everyone involved is a cheat and that includes Selig.

kevinb got a reaction from Troll Daddy in Wacha vs Lackey game 2 WS
As much as I don't like the Red Sox. I gotta love that Big John is back in the WS pitching again on the big stage and its pretty awesome that Napoli has been in the WS 3 times since he left us. Go with the Ex Angels for some championship all though I couldn't stand the Sox fans.

Disgusting. I cannot even begin to imagine the damage I would want to inflict on the person that did this to my kid.
