Not sure about Dan Straily but Steely Dan could probably be a #3 in this rotation.

Forster is forever immortalized as the guy that gave up Moe Jorgan's HR in game 162 in 1982 to deny the Dogs a chance to play the Braves in a 1 game NL West playoff.
    Sweet day indeed!

Wait til he finds a good poutine place up there in Toronto.  He'll look like Terry Forster by the time he's 21.

I’m a chef at a sports bar restaurant in the Palm Springs area. Dustin’s  parents were in the restaurant today watching the angels game. I went out to talk to them after the server said their son played for the angels. They thought it was awesome I knew who he was and knew he hit a grand slam in yesterday’s game. His dad went on and on about how proud they were to see him live out his dream and about he was hoping for a backup catcher gig when they break camp.

Not that crazy just thought it was cool and I would share. Cool to see parents support/be so proud of their son like this.

Hitting to the opposite field is a dying art. The fact that defensive shifts work should trigger an athletic adjustment other than hit the ball over or through it. It's becoming a game of softball being played by athletes using only a fraction of their talents.

Hall of Famer Frank Robinson, a baseball pioneer and all-time great, in poor health
    Bob Nightengale, USA TODAYPublished 11:34 a.m. ET Jan. 30, 2019 | Updated 3:34 p.m. ET Jan. 30, 2019
CONNECTTWEETLINKEDINCOMMENTEMAILMORE Corrections and clarifications: In an earlier version of this story, an extra World Series championship was included among Frank Robinson's accomplishments. Robinson won two World Series, both with the Baltimore Orioles.
Hall of Fame outfielder Frank Robinson, who made major league baseball history as the first African-American manager, is in poor health, close friends of Robinson told USA TODAY Sports.
The friends were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly as the family has requested privacy.
Robinson, 83, has been in hospice care for several months in Southern California.
Robinson, a 14-time All-Star, had a legendary career. He was the Rookie of the Year in 1956 when he hit a rookie-record 38 homers for the Cincinnati Reds, won the Triple Crown in 1966 with the Baltimore Orioles, and remains the only player to win an MVP award in each league -- with the Reds in 1961 and the Orioles in 1966. He also led his teams to two World Series titles, winning with  the Orioles in 1966, when he also was voted the World Series MVP, and 1970.
Robinson, who had his greatest years with the Reds and Orioles, played 21 years in the major leagues before retiring in 1976 with 586 home runs. It was the fourth-highest total in baseball at the time, trailing only Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth and Willie Mays. The longest of those home runs came on May 8, 1966, when his 541-foot blast off Luis Tiant cleared Memorial Stadium in Baltimore.

He continued to influence the game long after retirement, becoming the first African-American to manage in the major leagues, with the Cleveland Indians. He also managed the San Francisco Giants, becoming the National League’s first African-American manager, and later managed the Orioles, Montreal Expos and Washington Nationals. He compiled a 1065-1176 (.475) record over parts of 16 seasons, winning the 1989 AL Manager of the Year award with the Orioles.
He spent the last 12 years working for the Commissioner’s office mostly as a vice president, and later as a senior advisor to Commissioner Rob Manfred.

First WS I ever watched too.  I remember at one point in the season they had six guys hitting over .300.  I loved Clemente, Sanguillen and Stargell.  In 1972, I went to my first Dodger game to see the Pirates.  I was a huge Pirates fan as a kid - even though I was also an Angels fan.  The Pirates; for many years, gave me more to cheer about...
That being said, my favorite NL team is the Padres.  Love the park.  Love that they have a local radio station that really supports them and I was a huge Tony Gwynn fan.
    1. Padres
    2. Pirates (a close second at that)
    Plus anyone playing the Dodgers.

The '71 World Series was the first one I ever watched, and though I rooted for the Orioles it was hard not to like Clemente, Stargell, Al Oliver, etc.  Pirates was also the name of my tee ball team that year.  Plus black & gold is a great color combo.

Dogs had part of that happen to them in 1966.    Rookie Cards' pitcher Larry Jaster never no-hit them, but shut them out all 5 times facing them in 1966.
    45 innings, 24 hits (all singles), 31/8 Ks/BBs, .157 opposing BA, sub .200 OBP, .157 SLG%
