  1. I will say this...with Eppler saying the words “World Series Championship” I gotta believe he’s ready to land some big names or go all in on some. Because there is no way you say that and bring in the 1 year experiments like last year.
  2. Honestly, I can’t blame Arte for being pissed. I think the main thing saving Eppler thus far is his improvement in the minor league system and bringing on Ohtani. His free agent additions and manager addition have been underwhelming to say the least. But I still think Eppler can turn a corner this off season if he can land the big fish.
  3. I’m excited about having Maddon back. He brings instant credibility and it seems like players enjoy playing for him. This will be an exciting off season. Hopefully, Maddon has Cole’s number in his phone to start the recruiting.
  4. Erstad played in 126 games at 1B in 1997, 70 games in 1998 then won gold gloves in 2000 and 2002 in the outfield. Won his GG at 1B in 2004. Marsh can probably move around like this to fill the needs of the team.
  5. Upton is not playing 1B. His only move will be to DH, and that is not likely to happen until Pujols moves on. I actually like this idea of moving Marsh to 1B, and the Erstad comp makes sense. This isn’t to say Marsh is stuck at 1B forever. Just like Erstad moved around.
  6. Never heard of this guy, but he does have a story. This is a far reaching issue and as terrible as this is, I don’t see it changing things for the Angels and free agency and Maddon. Something does need to be done. People do need to speak up.
  7. All I know is that Howie still hit it out. That’s all that matters.
  8. I’m really hoping tonight is the last time I have to root against him.
  9. Wouldn’t it be great, with all the hype entering this postseason with the Dodgers and Astros as heavy favorites, that they both go out in the first round? Now that I said it, it probably won’t happen. But at least there is a chance.
  10. Bryant’s going to take probably 2-3 top 100 prospects or a #1 SP in a package. Angels can’t do that.
  11. I’m sure Arte sent Joe a text and ask “if we open a spot for you, will you take it?” Joe replied, “hell to the yes!” Arte...”we’ll be talking soon.”
  12. I will add that with his move to the NL, and only playing half a season, many of the hitters have not either seen him at all or very little. Moving back to the AL West would be concerning to me.
  13. This is exactly how I feel. I love Simba but he is at one position of depth for the Angels and he is one player who could potential bring back much needed help in a trade.
  14. Between the many stat related changes and Angels poor play, the game is really not fun to watch. Hopefully, as tots mentioned, the game will even out with the use of strategies based on all the new data. But the shift, pitching changes, increase in HRs/launch angle, this game is missing the strategy of the last that the game was built on.
  15. Just looking at the Mobile BayBears, they have only won 3 games since July 18th. That’s a lot of losing. Not that it matters.
  16. I totally agree on not blowing up the system for a small chance at the wild card. The only trade I wanted to see happen was one that could just help this team make it through this season just so this season isn’t a complete embarrassment. This current team is about as desperate for pitching that I can ever recall. One arm could have helped to ease the burden a little bit. But it probably wouldn’t have made a big difference. Overall, this is just a frustrating season.
  17. The one part I am frustrated about is Eppler not getting any starting pitching before the deadline. Heck, Jordan Lyles would have done wonders for this rotation. There was/is no way this season will end pretty. It seems like Eppler, more times than not, ends up just short on trades and signings, at least in the last year.
  18. Garneau hit a 3 run HR off Lester for the A’s tonight.
  19. With Sandoval breaching the Bigs, who is the next pitching prospect for the Angels in the minors? Seems like the cliff just got really steep.
  20. Just for reference. He’s just a warm body.
  21. I think Colorado, Milwaukee, or Toronto picks up Godley before Angels get the chance.
  22. Godley also has 3 more years of club control, but no options obviously. Definitely worth a shot in my opinion. Teams can only add players this way, DFA, so I don’t think Eppler can afford to pass on Godley.
  23. I don’t think Eppler will be going anywhere. But with the epic failure of all his free agents signings this season, he has created more doubt for me that he can do what the Angels need him to do. He has to land Cole IMO. How he reworks this rotation is a make or break moment for him.
