  1. This is probably what happens if I had to guess as well. Goodwin is in his age 28 season also. So he’s primed to have a breakout year. I like him hitting behind Trout. When Ohtani comes back however, I wonder if this will work 2,3,4 with Goodwin, Trout, Ohtani?
  2. Saw Kirby get his 14th save with his 0.56 era last night. This guy has been lights out.
  3. This guy has been great so far. I don’t see him letting up. Doesn’t seem that the Angels find guys, at least position players, off the scrap heap that end up producing. Definitely a +1 for Eppler. I wonder what will happen when Upton returns? Lots can happen until then, but he definitely should be in the everyday lineup. Perhaps RF, though his arm isn’t meant for RF.
  4. Dipoto just missed on this. Baldoquin hitting .185 this year and just hit his 8th HR in his minor league career. Ridiculous.
  5. I was just thinking of the Braves and Ian Anderson. Good call. Braves are stocked they could use an OFer to take over Markakis after this year.
  6. Well the starter as you mean it wouldn’t be called the starter anymore. As Jeff Fletcher says, the “follower”.
  7. I’m realizing part of my frustration is that I want the Angels to win because of Trout. Well I’m going to stop thinking like that. He chose to stick with the Angels. He knew what he was getting in to. Also, this is the first of twelve more years for him. He knew not all seasons were going to be great ones. Anyways, this team is what it is this year. Once the farm starts kicking in, I feel things will improve. But nothing will happen overnight.
  8. No need for Kimbrel. Middleton and Ramirez are just around the corner. Between Buttrey and Middleton, they can compete for closer role. Though Buttrey should have the head start and put there now. Will be interesting to see what Angels decide to do with JC Ramirez, pen or starter. He could potentially vie for high leverage bullpen situations.
  9. Remember when Lucroy used to hit homeruns? He’s a singles hitter now.
  10. I really don’t understand the Angel’s incapability of hitting lefties the past couple of seasons. With that said, I’m calling 6-7 runs and a Cozart homerun.
  11. He should be hitting behind Trout without hesitation.
  12. Does anyone know what’s going on with Jose Suarez? I don’t see him on the Bees or Bay Bears roster. I know that he was dealing with a sore shoulder in March.
  13. Anderson has been far from lights out since his demotion out of nowhere. I’m really not sure why he was demoted. But he has given up 2 runs and 3 runs in back to back outings since. Perhaps this demotion got in his head.
  14. That doesn’t happen. The fielder would always throw it home or look to hold the runner back.
  15. Maybe I should have said one week instead of one month. Things clearly changed.
  16. Angels just need to score enough runs consistently so they can benefit the most from a good bullpen.
  17. The first 16 games of the season last year, we looked like World Series contenders and how did that end up? So far this season, 7 games in, we look like a lock for the number 1 draft pick. Point being, things can change during the season. I’m sure Angels won’t be the worst team in baseball in a month.
  18. 1. I definitely think Allen will implode and won’t finish the season with the Angels. 2. I think Angels Starting pitching will be top 5 in the league. 3. Buttery will take over as closer and Middleton will be set up man when he returns 4. Trout wins 3rd MVP. 5. Pujols announces in August that this is his last season. 6. Simmons will be an All-Star and win GG 7. Bour will hit 30+ HRs and be primary 1B for majority of season. 8. Cozart will be primary 3B and finish in top 3 in GG. 9. Ausmus wins manager of the year 10. Angels win wild card and division series and lose to Boston in ALCS. (I hate even saying this).
  19. Graterol was DFA’d and the other were added on minor league contracts.
  20. But were they added without a spring training game under their belt and before the first regular season game? Seems like Graterol, Revere, and Almonte were at least signed during off season. Schimpf, I have no idea about his transaction, though I think it was late in spring training.
  21. I wouldn’t trust Walsh or Ward in the outfield for more than a game or two.
  22. Seems interesting that the Angels will have 2-3 players (Stratton, Freeman, Goodwin) on opening day roster who didn’t play a day for them in spring training. I don’t recall that happening in recent memory.
