I have to think, that if the money is close, he chooses his childhood team. Hearing him talk about his memories growing up watching the Angels, he definitely still has an affinity for the Halos. All this noise has to be Boras being Boras. I’m still holding out that Arte/Eppler pulls this out. Gerrit already spurned the Yanks once. He should have no qualms doing it again.

Seems like things are going as planned for the Angels. Not a peep from the negotiations at this point for Cole.

Imagine Cole, Strasburg, and Ohtani!! And then you have the best player in baseball on top of that. I do think it’s in the realm of reality that this could happen, but I know it’s not likely.

I usually don’t like getting my hopes up for fear things won’t work out. But this whole Cole offseason is different. I feel as close to 100% as I ever had about a free agent and the Angels.

It’s weird. Jon Morosi is the one who included the Angels among 3 others as leading candidates for Wheeler a couple weeks ago. Now not a peep of the Angels being involved.

Just my gut, but I think if Angels land Cole, and there is a possibility of landing Strasburg, Arte will open the checkbook. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking. But I think Arte see’s this opportunity, as he is getting older, to load up on pitching and vastly improve this team.

Those other teams don’t have Trout or Ohtani. Cole will be an Angel.

It truly seems like it’s up to Arte. Cole has given every indication he wants to come home. I feel very optimistic it will happen. Just my gut says it will happen. Arte knows the Angels need better press after this past season. The narrative needs to turn back to winning. Cole is a huge step back towards that narrative.
