  1. Good points here. SP isn’t necessarily the biggest need at this point. SS and BP should be the focus. That 2023 SP class definitely has big names. I do think Lorenzen could have a better season upcoming after going through his first season as a starter. I think he’s a good clubhouse guy and he’s a competitor. I think a contract similar to Heaney should get Lorenzen. Maybe just under that.
  2. That’s disappointing. I really thought Angels would have a good shot at him.
  3. Yep not many new rumors. I think Judge gets done tomorrow. Then the rest will start to happen. Just my hunch.
  4. This should definitely affect Judge’s contract but it won’t.
  5. Let’s get Senga and Correa and call it an off-season.
  6. This is pretty dang specific and two weeks before anything happened.
  7. I think Aldaberto Mondesi would be a cheap and interesting trade option for the Angels. He has one remaining year before free agency and Witt Jr is the long term SS in KC.
  8. Swanson is a late bloomer offensively. He’s gotten better the past two years in particular. My overall preference is Bogaerts but I just don’t see that happening.
  9. Swanson is a much better hitter than Simmons and provides high level defense.
  10. Very good post. I agree, a back up plan is needed. I don’t want to go into the season with the SS position moving around between Fletch, Rengifo, Soto, Vasquez, etc. The position needs to be filled by someone we can just sit and forget about so to speak. Swanson is better than what some think here. That’s my pick.
  11. There had to be a surprise, under the radar pick.
  12. Judge will stay in NY Rodon to the Mets Verlander to Dodgers Angels will sign Swanson and Wacha.
  13. I have felt the same. With the moves that have been made, and the quickness they’ve been made in, give me an impression that big moves could be made. But overall, I will temper these expectations and tell myself, nothing will likely happen.
  14. For the past several off seasons, I’ve been expecting major moves and nothing. This off season I haven’t been expecting major moves, primarily due to the pending sale, and we probably get major moves. At least rumors so far are leading that way.
  15. He hasn’t pitched over 92 innings/season since 2019. Of course Covid season. But other two due to injuries. Lots of money for that.
  16. Kluber, Hamels, Cliff Lee come to mind. Good point. Also via trade.
  17. I just had a thought, I wonder if Arte has decided to do what he can one last time to help Trout get to the playoffs under his watch. I’m sure they have a decent relationship and Arte may feel an obligation to put forth his best effort one last time. Just speculation of course.
  18. I vote yes. Ohtani’s value right now won’t get any higher. Yes more teams could be involved in the off season, but right now, there are enough contending teams who would prefer to get at least a season and a half out of him versus one. Also, the Angels risk injury by holding on to him longer. It’s the best course for this organization to trade him before deadline.
  19. All the non conclusive tweets by the big reporters are setting things up for a team to come in a swoop Scherzer away from the Mets.
  20. Negative article on signing. Angels are desperate, adding a pitcher coming off TJ surgery that can only pitch a limited amount of innings. Not an article worth reading.
  21. At some point, Angels have to take risks and grab a high upside arm. I like this.
