Splint7438 got a reaction from fan_since79 in Five years...
(((((((Stradling)))))) It is events like this that remind me what a blessed man I am. My son Alan was 21 when he was killed in a similar senseless accident. I feel for his family. Their life was forever changed that day. I can't begin to describe the pain and anger we felt towards life itself after Alan's accident. The one constant I had during this time was my next door neighbor. Stradling lived next door at the time and helped me more than he will ever know. Yes he is my brother. Yes he was my neighbor. Yes he is who I wanna be if I ever choose to grow up. Love you scott.
Nick Adenhart had a chance to be one of the really good ones. His last game showed us that. The way he was taken from his family and all of us was tragic. If I could recommend one way to honor his memory it would be to always let people know how much love you have for them. I don't want to sound preachy or assholier than thou but Nick's passing shows that nothing is promised. Have no regrets and leave nothing unsaid. Baseball, after all, is just a game. A game kissed by the face of God, but still just a game. I will continue to keep good thoughts for Nicks family. The Angel family. And our Angelswin family. I love you all. Some more than others but love just the same.
Rest well 34.

Splint7438 got a reaction from Ohtaniland in Pujols looks exactly the same
During BP on Sunday he didn't look great. But in all fairness that was after we watched Trout and Hamilton lose about 15-20 baseballs. I think Sandra Bullock is going try to ride one of Hamiltons homers back down to earth.

Splint7438 got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Dr. Frank Jobe passes away at 88
This is a name, along with Kerlan, that revolutionized sports medicine. He belongs in the HOF as a contributor to the sport. Actually the patient that put him on the map belongs in the Hall as well. Tommy John finished with 288 wins but everyone knows him for the surgery named after him. But that's an argument for a different thread. For thirty years or so from the 70's forward dr Jobe seemed to be consulted on every major injury in baseball.

Splint7438 reacted to Docwaukee in Angels Official Website: Ready or not, Skaggs could be key for Angels
yah. not a lot of proofing for that article. Addison Reed in the Trumbo trade?
The biggest problem for Skaggs and perhaps lesser so for Richards and Santiago isn't going to be talent/stuff.
This rotation actually has quite a bit of talent. All five guys could put up numbers equivalent to #2/3 starters.
The problem is that none of those three will likely do it over an entire season. If they have made all of their starts thru Aug then by september, they are going to be gassed and that will suck for a playoff stretch if there is one.
The most important piece on this team isn't Tyler Skaggs. It's the bullpen.

Splint7438 got a reaction from Jim in Angels discussing 6yr extension with Mike Trout - Yahoo
By year six of this deal, Arte can have a " kids named after trout weekend" at the stadium. No way we fit all the little boogers in the gate in just one game. Mike trout is going to make more money than four generations of Trouts can spend. But he has a chance to be Robin Yount. George Brett. Cal Ripkin. Tony Gwynn. Derek Jeter. A HOF player that wins and stays in one city. The attraction of playing at home has to be huge. Especially when teams near jersey have a history of spending money. But I think Trout is a special person that can easily adopt SoCal if we are winning.

Splint7438 got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Does anyone know where I can buy Angels 90s throwback jersey?
If you are going to use a time machine bing back a 80's era #30 with Nolan in the jersey. Now that Ryan has retired from the Rangers we should be able to keep them apart and not have any time continuum issues when we go to Texas.

Splint7438 got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in The greatest feat in Baseball history
Henry Arron's career. Did it ever occur to you that if you were to take away every one of his 755 home runs, he would still have over 3000 hits. Go home willy Mays you're drunk. Hank was better

Wow! Just wow! Usually I have to have a few beers to do my bs version of karioke. The purple dress I can do sober. But in all seriousness she did a great job! It takes guts to speak in front of an audience much less bear your soul like that? Hope to hear more from her in the future.

Splint7438 got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Stephen Drew seeks opt out after first year of any multi year deal.
I may agree to the opt out after the first year if they would agree to a non guaranteed contract. Or maybe minimal buyouts of the contract after each season at a fraction of the next years salary. With notification of teams intention within ten days of the conclusion of the regular season. Something has to be done to get costs under control.
