In the regular season, it's just one game.  In the playoff's, however, it's different. Every success is multiplied, every mistake magnified.  In the regular season, you have time to recover, in the playoff's it's win or go home.
 
These are the moments that the players, coaches, managers, and owners work years towards; the players through years of training alone in the cage and on little league fields around the world, owners by opening up their wallets with decade long contracts, managers in acquiring the talent and the coaches in moving the pieces around for 189 games.
 
It all comes down to October Baseball.
 
It's not just one game, it's a lifetime's worth of commitment coming to fruition in one 9 inning stretch.

I've experienced enough heartbreak and teeth-gnashing losses in my first 30 years to fill a good-sized "Well of  Baseball Anguish"...and then Game 6 of the 2002 WS happened.  Teams that should win usually do but its never a lock and the playoffs are where the seemingly impossible happens as players who sucked during the regular season become heroes at times and can throw of the burdens of the regular season with one solid postseason AB. 

Scoscia sure is thin in this episode.

For those of us who remember Gene's later years when Jackie was running things and trying to preserve as much of her inheritance as possible, we are lucky to have him.

I think the road is easier perhaps this time in terms of level of competition, but this time we have severe injuries to too many key players, so I'd say overall it will be a tougher road back to the WS.

Richards is by far the MVP this year. Not only tearing it up in the games he pitched. When he goes down he becomes the rallying point and the team finally pulls out of its Post ASB funk.

What do they expect with that kind of roster?
