Does anyone increasingly think that maybe if the incoming wave of new talent from the minors, combined with the right strategic acquisitions, leads to returning to contention in 2019, could that re-energize the team and coaching staff?
But, and important but, they need to limit a new deal for Scioscia, if one exists, to no more than 2 years. Then if things go well, do another 2 year deal?
No more long term deals!

Valid point.
But i think its wise to not eat soshs contract when you know any replacement will still have the broken roster. It would be spending more for about the same result.
Not to mention, like the guy or not, hes going to the hall....in an angels hat. Would be awkward to fire him, especially for little if any improvement.

I am curious to know how much of the recent pitching struggles were due to Maldonado not calling the pitches?
I also wonder if pitchers were tipping their pitches? Maybe opposing players were communicating pitch and/or location to the hitters when on 2B?
