I am fine with losing if it is intentional in the sense that there's a plan in place to rebuild. Losing with the misguided intent to win is awful. That's why this year sucks. 

I guess I am amused with the idea that Adell would even have to be good to get playing time on this roster.  You just play him.  And even if he hit .225 over the next 600 at bats this year you still play him every day next year too.  Let’s be honest.  This team has REGULARLY been pretty comfortable starting crappy players almost every day for a couple of years.  The Angels can pencil in a bunch of .200 hitters all over the diamond, but Adell has to mash to play?

When you’re losing by 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, the priority is offense and not defense. So you do whatever you can to tie the game and worry about the defense later.

2 years, $15.5M, not $25.5M.  And not sure what that has to do with anything, given that his situation and Stephenson's are completely different.  Richards' contract was essentially spreading the money for a one-year deal over two years to secure him for the full year once he recovered from surgery.  The Padres were 100% aware of his medical status because he'd already had the surgery.  BTH is making the point that in Stephenson's case (and maybe Lackey's, too), the team might have had some concern over the medicals, even if nothing was certain, so they included an injury clause option year.  Two totally different contract structures. 
Even if Stephenson recovers, pitches well, and the Angels exercise the option for '27, they'd still be paying him $35.5M for, at absolute max, 3 years of actual performance--and likely closer to 2 1/2.

We don't actually know if that is a "strength" yet, though.  Have Detmers, Neto, and Schanuel (as well as Silseth and Mederos) gotten to the majors quickly?  Absolutely.  Do we know yet how strong any of them will be overall?  Not really.  Detmers is close to truly establishing himself, but I think the jury is still out on the others.  Of course, that's natural, since they're all recent draftees.  But I think it'll be another 2-3 years before we know for sure if the strategy is a good one.

He has a sacrifice fly.  They don't count when calculating batting average, but they do count as a plate appearance when calculating on base percentage.  He doesn't have any walks or hit-by-pitch to boost his OBP, so when you calculate it, his OBP ends up lower than BA because of the sac fly.

That's because I like to move at a Snell's pace.

The only way I trade a starter is if we sign Snell and Clevinger/Lorenzon and you trade someone for either a bat or a prospect haul that has at least the value of the pick we would lose for signing Snell.
