Again I don’t know anyone in the front office, but I know someone who is close to someone very high up in the org. I have zero reason to lie about this as I’ve been here for close to 20 years and I’m not trying to be “that guy” nor do I need street cred.

The most hilarious thing about this Rendon firestorm that's erupted?
People want athletes to be honest and not give canned answers, but when they do they get blasted for it. And then people twist their words to mean something they never said: Like, "Rendon isn't trying because he got paid", when this has always been his attitude and we have no idea what kind of teammate he is aside from Papelbon who is a little shit himself that nobody likes. Nobody gave a shit when the Nats were winning and Rendon was playing well, but now that the Angels suck and Rendon hasn't lived up to the contract, suddenly it's a problem. Nah, that's bs, regardless of who says it.

    “START some sort of rebuild”?
Dude, they are mostly done with the “rebuild” that is somehow invisible to you.
6 of the 8 position players are young guys with upside.  Four of the five starters are in the same category and you have a few good young live arms for the bullpen.
At this point in the process, you supplement the team with the few additional players needed to be competitive.
Sometimes, the success year happens a year earlier than people think.  That could be 2024, so you don’t punt on 2024.
The timing of the success of this rebuild will fall on how much/how many of all these young players take significant steps forward this season.

I just don’t get the people who are upset at the draft, what do you base it on?  Are you upset that they didn’t draft someone based on some publication ranking?  Or because the media isn’t applauding our draft?  Is there something Perry has done, draft wise, that you object to in the first two years?

1979. They finally broke through and won their division.

1986 was a great year. I bought World Series tickets and had them in hand. We were - oh well, you know how it ended.

jangel7 reacted to ThisismineScios in Taylor Ward at camp as a catcher
It's hilarious that anyone would think this is a bad thing. I've been on this train for years. Eppler's frame of reference was about Ward being THE man at catcher. No, defensively he cannot be that guy. But why not allow him to continue getting work there? He's not going to have a spot in the outfield after this year. Teams have also asked the Angels about Ward's catching abilities, being interested in trading for him if he were to have that option. It also does make him more valuable to include in a trade as an additional piece.

Hopefully, the outcome of these one year deals. Eppler failed on every single one of them. The strategy wasn't wrong, it was the execution.
Or in simple terms, Harvey < Quintana. Cahill < Cobb.  Teheran < Barria. Maybin/Nava/Gentry < Fowler.
And I think much more specifically, Iglesias = Simmons for 7 million less, Fletcher being better than La Stella, and Raisel Iglesias bring better than Hansel Robles.
I don't think it's that bold of an expectation to believe that Minasian's acquisitions will fare better than Eppler's and thus produce a better team.

Seems like an odd acquisition. Perhaps the Orioles are eating a ton of money and this is a much cheaper route than an Odorizzi or Paxton. Or perhaps it is domino one in another move that results in Canning or Heaney being sent out for a better starter.
