Lazorko Saves

Not sure why everyone is pissed at Chicken Strip.  He's on a team that went to the World Series twice in three years.  If you were about to be relocated and you find out that maybe you weren't, wouldn't you celebrate? 

Unless Eppler and Arte have something bigger up their sleeves, I’m pretty pissed about this. 

I don't blame anyone other than the Dodgers. They are the ones who pulled out of the deal.
 
EDIT: Unless it's true that Moreno pulled out of the deal, which in that case, Fire Arte....???

Yea, for you guys laughing this isn’t really all that funny.  It absolutely sucks.

Here is the thing.  I don't think that Boston is utterly clueless.  I think they have a plan. 
My bigger question is why are they trading Betts?  They are getting roasted everywhere for trading him.  Even the Angels found a way no matter what to keep Trout.  So why is Boston trading Betts?  Money?  I don't buy it, they are a huge market team.  And the only thing that makes any kind of conspiracy sense is that Boston knows something everyone else doesn't.  And that something is happening in Houston.  The accusations are that Boston cheated their way to the 2018 WS.  Coincidentally, that is when Betts went from a .800 OPS hitter to a 1.000 OPS hitter.  His MLB career has been .812, .820, .897, .803 OPS then 1.078 and .915 OPS.  
So I guess we'll see in 2020 if he turns back into a .800 hitter, or continues to be a .900+ hitter.  It'll also be interesting to see if he signs a long term huge contract before the season starts.  Because if he signs that huge contract, and it turns out he is only a .800 OPS hitter, the Dogs are going to get hosed.  Which is also acceptable.

Why do we need a compromise? Pitchers batting is stupid. The strategy element is heavily overstated. Here’s what it is: Should we have a good batter or a a crap batter. 
The note for compromise is more idiotic than leaving it the same, which is a brain dead idea. 
Here’s a better plan: Kill the pitcher hitting. Go full DH, never look back, then think to yourself, “What took us so long?”.

Dude, this is nonsense but keep spinning it if it makes you feel some righteous anger or something...
Again, let's revisit what happened this season:
 - Strasburg - 31/32 years old in 2020, signed a 7 year deal with the team who drafted him and he just won a World Series with that previous season.  We going 8 years on him to pay him $35 mil into age 40?
 - Cole - Angels offered him 8 years and were outbid by the Yankees who offered 9 years.  Do we offer 10 years guaranteed to a pitcher?
 - Wheeler - Took less money and years to stay on the East Coast near New Jersey.  If he won't go for 6 years, do you offer 7?  Do you up it $25+ million per season?
 - Bumgarner - Took less money to play in AZ to be near his horse ranch.  Are we offering a 6th year, $120 mil?
 - Keuchel - Do you go 4 to 5 years, close to $20 mil guaranteed to take him away from the White Sox?  All that for maybe a 3 starter?  
- Ryu - A pitcher so desired on the market that his own team didn't make an effort to keep him and ended up signing with a basement dwelling Blue Jays.
- Kluber - I'm guessing you give up Marsh and Sandoval for him, right?
"Waited out", come on...
You guys keep waiting for him to make his "Vernon Wells" panic trade and he hasn't because he knows the ability to acquire players doesn't end today or next week or in Spring Training or April...he can acquire players to impact this season up until July 31st, that's his timeline.  

Finally registering today after lurking all the Cole threads for the last three months.  Time to de-lurk, commiserate, and convince myself, "yeah, running Dylan Bundy out there in a winner-take-all wild card game isn't that bad".
