JustATroutFan reacted to Lou in OC Register: Mike Trout on postseason drought: ‘It’s time. We’ve got to get to the playoffs’
Pujols played 9 years in St. Louis before McGwire was his hitting coach. His numbers in over 6,000 PA:
.334 BA
.427/.628/1.055
McGwire was his hitting coach for 2 years. His numbers:
.305 BA
.391/.569/.959
Please stfu about this already. You're only making a fool of yourself.
Again.

I love when morons don’t know they are morons.

JustATroutFan got a reaction from Vladdylonglegs in Why did the Dodgers try so hard last night?
It's illegal for athletes to bet on games. And Pujols can't retire soon enough. Hasn't been the same ever since he stopped using steroids after leaving the Cardinals and McGwire.

Also, McGriff should be in the MLB Hall of Fame. 493 career home runs? *****, didn't have a chance to get there because of the strike in 1994 that continued into 1995.

JustATroutFan got a reaction from ten ocho recon scout in Who was better in their prime years? Albert Pujols or Mike Trout?
You need to remember that Trout's great years mostly happened in great seasons for pitchers to pitch in. 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2018 were all great seasons for pitchers to pitch in. The only season of Pujols' prime that wasn't a hitter-friendly season was in 2010. Not to mention that McGwire was either a teammate or hitting coach of Pujols, so steroids? I already posted that I would not be surprise one bit if Pujols juiced. Raw numbers are overrated. A lot of hitters during the steroids era put up Trout-like numbers. Not saying that they're weren't all good because they were all good but no one is associating them (mostly) with Trout. To answer your question, prime Trout's a better hitter and defender than prime Pujols.

Trout might not win the MVP or even second in the MVP this season. What is going on? Oh wait, fake season. *********

Sure, lets judge Ward, a guy who has never hit much before this fake season, in a fake season.

Can't be clutch when your team is way out of the postseason picture. Whatever, Trout!

JustATroutFan got a reaction from AngelsLakersFan in Is Jared Walsh the answer for 1B?
Pujols might have used steroids back when he was on the Cardinals. I have been suspicious of the guy for years. McGwire was a hitting coach of his as well. Big red flag.

JustATroutFan reacted to Angelsjunky in So Trout is the AL MVP, right?
Imagine we're on game 120 - there's 40ish games left, and the time that MVPs really stand out. Whether we like it or not, I'm guessing that many voters still weight the season towards the end. As I said up-thread, my guess is that most weigh their vote in rough thirds: advanced metrics; traditional stats; and intangibles - which includes the stretch run/contention, star power, and defense.
For Trout to win the MVP, I think he'll have to be significantly ahead in advanced metrics (WAR, OPS+, wRC+), and at or near the top in some of the traditional stats (HR, RBI, Runs, etc). He's got some "intangibles cred" through his superstar power, but unless the Angels win 90% of their remaining games, he'll be behind in that category.
Now if somehow Trout powered the Angels to that 8th seed, I think he'd win the MVP handily. But I think that is rather unlikely.

JustATroutFan got a reaction from Blarg in Trout's worst start ever
Trout does need to steal more bases, however. Same for Fletcher. But stupid Maddon doesn't want them to run. I'm beginning to want to say Maddon is Scioscia 2.0. Hated Scioscia. Dude made a lot of idiotic moves when he was managing the team.

Until you brought it up, @Angelsjunky, I didn't remember that Griffey Jr. stole that many bases. When it comes to Bonds, it doesn't take away what he did from 1990-1998. 1998 was his last season without using steroids. The man could do everything well on the diamond. He was Trout before Trout became Trout. Well, minus the attitude problems.

What if we come back and win the World Series?

JustATroutFan reacted to Angelsjunky in The Official TROUTstanding Thread
Another way of comparing.
10 WAR seasons: Trout 2, Griffey 0 (Bonds 5)
9 WAR seasons: Trout 5, Griffey 2 (Bonds 8 )
8 WAR seasons: Trout 7, Griffey 3 (Bonds 10)
6 WAR seasons: Trout 8, Griffey 6 (Bonds 15)
That includes their entire careers and all 8 of Trout's full seasons. He hasn't had a chance to pad those numbers with decline years yet, but my guess is that he'll end up with more than double Griffey's 6 WAR seasons, just like he does with 8-10 WAR seasons.
EDITED to add in Bonds, for something for Trout to shoot for. There's little chance he'll catch Bonds' 10 WAR seasons, but all of the others are possible.

Yes, agreed, but to be fair we really need to compare them through a similar age. They played almost exactly the same amount of games through age 27 (Trout's last full season, 2019), so the comparison is easy:
Trout through age 27 season (2019): 1199 games, .305/.419/.581, 285 HR, 200 SB, 172 wRC+, 73.4 fWAR
Griffey through age 27 season (1997): 1214 games, .302/.381/.562, 294 HR, 123 SB, 144 wRC+, 57.0 fWAR
1997 was Griffey's last season above 7 WAR, although he was still very good from 1998-2000, accruing another 16.9 fWAR, but then drastically declined from 2001 (age 31) on, never having another 3+ fWAR season.
Let us hope that Trout doesn't decline like Griffey (or Pujols) did.

Angels since 2016 in a nutshell in the 9th: Scoring opp, then bad baserunning and a pop-up with the game on the line.

I would take a hitter with a .850 OPS with an OBP of .400 over a hitter with an .850 OPS with an OBP of .350. Both still solid hitters but OBP leads to more run scoring chances.
