I don't think it's really hard to understand at all. Most (nearly all managers) don't manage by the sabermetrics book. So it's all a matter of degree. Scioscia has done a great job managing the pen according to stats guys and has generally gotten the team to a better record than their pythagorean record. Also, while many on this board think that making knee jerk reactions and hitting emotional highs and lows after every game is good the even keel approach is probably better for a team's mentality over the course of a 162 game season or many seasons.

Exactly why I don't get why people here bitch that Arte doesn't spend enough money. He's a very big spender compared to many MLB owners. Our fans are spoiled. They continue to covet the next Buzz Lightyear every off season.

Ultimately, I just want the Angeks to have a venue we can be proud of. Petco Park and AT&T Park both have unique architecture, great seating and family friendly activities in and around the park during pre game. They've also got some unique venders that add to the flavor of the area.
I'd like to see the Angels keep the parking lot as is for the most part, but widen concourses, and design  an OF that is uniquely Orange County. Fix the awful plumbing situation, restructure some of the seating, slap a new paint job on it and call it good. Basically, no more cookie cutter stadium.

Arte has been here rent free for 14 years and his team is worth 10 times what he paid for it. He has a huge TV deal, 3 million fans every season and people here want the tax payers to give him a hand?

Hey Arte you're worth a billion finance your own fucking stadium and don't try and hold Anaheim hostage otherwise pack your back see ya somewhere else. Orange County isn't paying for you to have your stadium paid for. 

Stan Kroenke bought the Hollywood Park site and is building an NFL stadium with his own money. I think Tate was right to call out Arte on that deal.

If he can even put up a .250 .320 .730 line while catching a great game and throwing out 45% of the runners, you have our starting catcher.  Still, Carlos Perez was putting up similar numbers in the minors and has slumped since coming up so I'm not holding my breath that this offensive pace continues. 
Even with that consideration, Jett/Perez is a solid defensive catching combo and I like them both on the team.

I don't believe flesh light was an auto correct, I think he was making a joke and most people fell for it.  But if it did auto correct to flesh light, then he has some awesome regular conversations. 

You don't have to have had a great career to be a great coach or even good coach.

That was a long-winded article, and literally the only thing I took away from it was the author basically saying, "I don't like the Angels, nor do I know much about them or their prospects. But I believe they suck."

He had a very flukey first half this year. Was basically mashing everything. Basically, he had a small spike in fly ball percentage and a HUGE spike in HR-to-Fly ratio (especailly compared to his last two seasons. He's also pulling more than he has in the past. That means he was hittin' dem home runs at a crazy rate (even for him), which made everyone forget that he's been a SUCH a superfund site in the field that he's only cobbled together a WAR of just over 1.
