ScruffytheJanitor got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Nolan Schanuel
I think he ultimately gets sent down for a couple weeks and brought back -- which is probably the best thing given that we aren't really competing this year. He just needs to focus on getting on base and letting his power develop over the next five years.  I also think Neto could use another crack at AAA, but until Drury starts hitting a little better he's probably going to have to figure it out at the major league level.

If we were even semi-serious about competing for a playoff spot, we'd almost certainly be looking for another infielder. Of course, we would have also signed another starter and probably found a better solution in the outfield too, but that ship has sailed.

Take a clue from what Rendon is doing now. I would happy if he turns out to be a left handed Rendon.
For the next week (6 games), just start him once or twice. Use Drury or Sano at 1B. Give Rengifo more starts. Work with him in batting practice and spend more time working with him when he gets back home. If he is still struggling 2 weeks from now, send him down (but not until there is a clear plan and what he needs to work on).

I don't see any harm in sending him down. So many players get sent down after being called up and it seems to help a lot of the time.
I think the series in Miami in front of his family got him out of himself some how.
    I'm just spit balling here.
At the very least - keep him lower on the order.

It looks like he's pulling the ball too much and pounding it into the ground. And by "pounding" I mean "flopping".
He's been extremely unlucky but at the same time if you make weak contact constantly you're not going to get many hits through.
It's obvious he needs an overhaul of his swing. I hate to tinker with his plate discipline but it doesn't mean shit if pitchers just throw it over the plate and you slap the ball weakly every time. Why throw him anything out of the zone?
We knew we'd need infield depth and of course nothing was done about that...

That’s the Angels plan for contention this year. Attrition. Everyone else will get hurt, and they’ll have the same crappy pitchers go 130 innings each after they get bombed out by the 4th inning every start.

It’ll be hilarious when it predictably backfires.

They're going to bring a slot machine into the dugout and pull the handle after every homer.

    Technically he wasn't wrong.
I know this is Arte h8 b8 and I'm all about that but remember Ohtani's contract is deferred. I think he'll technically get paid like $460 million from the Dodgers in today's money.

After all the recent interviews, I DEFENITELY think that the Angels are going to make a hot, steamy BM that will smother the MLB this year.

Yeah there's been zero direction communicated by the team this offseason. Before and after Ohtani left.

You either go for it, and spend like a big market club, or you cut bait and sell. The only wrong way to go about this is exactly what the Angels are doing. Not selling, but not signing anyone impactful.

This team could surprise and even sneak in a wild card spot if some shit finally breaks right for once.

Fair. How about both? 🙂  Or sign Lorenzen to fill Anderson's spot.
I somehow was imagining we had 6 starters. Maybe I was thinking of Davis Daniel, but I don't think he's ready to be given a spot.

I see what you are saying, but honestly the #1 thing I wanted was bullpen upgrades. Sure, I expected at LEAST one semi-competent starter and a more significant bat than "the corpse of Aaron Hicks," but I genuinely think the bullpen and health have been the primary reasons for our recent suckitude. If we go into the season with 2.5 dependable starters and "LOL" still listed as the backup in OF/DH then yeah, I'll be pissed, but so far I'm perfectly OK with the offseason.

I am pretty much in agreement with this, was very happy to see basically a completely new bullpen. If the offense stays healthy I think they’re in fine shape - basically every starting hitter was hurt last year for some time. I do wish they had landed someone in the ERod, Stroman, Gray, Shoto tier, but I have a lot of faith in Sandoval, Detmers, Canning and even Anderson improving this year.

Great to see that he's taking his physical condition seriously!  Now if he can just cut down on the Ks, maybe he'll be useful.  It'd be great to have one of these signings actually work out.  I'm rooting for him.
