Albert clearly made the Angels worse!

I guess the easiest way to refute this is to say: Even if you argue that the money spent on Pujols could have been spent on other players, there is literally NO WAY of knowing whether those players would themselves be better than Pujols.

The Angels haven't been the same since Rob Quinlan left.

You just told us all stuff we already know.  Also there isn't a single regular contributor here that is enamored by his milestones.  You and yk are basically the only ones who bring it up.  Now if this was a Mark Gubiza message board then I would agree.

What was the team record in the 779 games since we have had Mike Trout vs. the 779 games before Mike Trout?
(779 games is roughly 5 years -  Before Trout = 457-322; after Trout 405-374.  I guess he doesn't help much either?  What a couple of rejects!)

I think Fowler was my top one (assuming we were out of the Heyward, Upton, Cespedes race).  Gordon just didn't do enough offensively to excite me.  I liked Span just fine but was leery with him coming off surgery.

I'm guessing Denard Span will be on the market for cheap this year.  I'd like to bring him in for LF and leadoff.  That would allow the Angels to put Escobar in the 2-hole, Trout at 3 and Calhoun at 5.  It'd also make for a high quality OF.  It might even open up the possibility to trading Escobar in the offseason if they think Span can return to his old ways.

Sign him and Carlos Gomez immediately.
And Grady Sizemore, while they're at it.

This is the really disgusting thing. I am not surprised that one person or one company would act like a douche. I am-- well, not surprised, but disgusted that the government (and an un-elected arm of the government, no less) allows shitty people/companies to have a defacto monopoly over something like this.

I have a friend who entered med school in 2011, and we had very interesting conversations while Obama Care was being put into affect. He told me that most doctors didn't have time to really think about the impact of the law, and that most were just unsure of what was going to happen. There was (and still is) a LOT of anxiety about what is going to happen to healthcare.
He leans slightly to the left (Libertarian for the most part, actually, but is one of those people who believe in the unicorn of an efficiently run government program), but after a few times going over the pros and cons, we both decided one thing: for something called the Affordable Care Act, it did almost nothing to make care more affordable for the people who are going to be paying for it. It should have been called "The Great Insurance Mandate Gamble."
And THAT is what killed me the most. the ACA could have been great. It could have addressed the outrageous costs of medications in hospitals, it could have made it easier to make competitive drugs, they could have done something to address the rising cost of attending medical school... and a whole lot more. Instead, we get this.

The Hepatitis C drug Harvoni costs $900 for a course of treatment in India. In the US, $84,000. As long as drug companies are allowed to make all of their hay here, this will keep happening.

The main problem with Gary Johnson as the libertarian candidate is that he really isn't a libertarian. He's basically a mediocre Republican that's in favor of pot legalization.

I'll admit it: I had hopes for the Hamilton signing. I will say, though, that given his lack of interest on the market and his history, I thought they should have offered three years + options, not a full five-years. I thought he'd be great the first year.

Dude..  You really need to try to find a way of considering the opposing view of the Simmons trade, it's the only thing fueling your rhetoric -- that was a trade for controlled assets and as of right now that trade isn't looking that bad.  Not saying you have to like the trade -- you know where I stand on it, but it's not the sort of win now trade you at times seem to try to connect it with.  The dude will be here for 4 more years and while defense does depreciate, most aging curves would have him remaining a top end defender throughout the duration of his contract.
