The German Bundesliga (Football / Soccer) has a 50+1 rule. This states that 50% plus one share of the voting rights of the club (franchise) must be fan owned, which gives fans genuine influence over the financial and strategic decisions made by the club at board level. There is a movement to petition the EPL for the same model in England.
If MLB had a similar model in place franchises like the A's would likely have bigger payrolls to appease the voting fans, rather than lining owners' pockets with any excess revenues.
Alongside increased fan engagement, it also provides the benefit of 'the wisdom of crowds' and prevents sports franchises from making ego-driven financial decisions that are to the detriment of the long term financial health of the club.

Probably not realistic depending on the number of fans and buy in and not sure if MLB has rules against it. But if the team is valued roughly at $2billion that means at least 500,000 fans would buy in at $4k a share, 1 million fans $2k a share etc. Or do something similar to the Packers with stock sales for a couple hundred with a limit on the amount an individual can purchase. Just a fun thought.
    • Any fan could potentially buy a share of the team ( The Packers currently have over 500,000 owners)
    • Fan elected board of directors who have the team's best interest in mind so we wouldn't have to worry about a profiteering, crappy, or meddling owner
    • Profits get reinvested in the staff, operations, and infrastructure
New Yorker article about the Packers being a not for profit fan owned team

Stefanic hasn't played in week and a half. When he comes off the IL and, assuming he gets back to form, I'd really think its past due that he's given a chance.

With the Adell hype I'd like to see what he can do at the major league level with us rather than with another team.  So no, wouldn't trade him.

He's been throwing. Just not on a mound. He's long tossing at about 120 feet. Still feeling a little something in the groin so they aren't putting him on a mound yet. As soon as the groin is good I would expect it to not take too long, since it's not an arm issue.

About 22 minutes, narrated by Don Wells (how many of you remember him?)
First players selected, Spring Training, first game, first home game.
Lousy film quality, you can hear the projector in the background.tattering.
Interesting footage I hadn't seen before.  I lived in Bakersfield at the time, didn't follow the team until we moved to Garden Grove and saw my first game toward the end of the Chaves Ravine period with the Cub Scouts.

I've put something like 100 hours into Zelda Breath of the Wild and I'm still finding things to do.  I've been putting off the last mission for when Mario Kart came out.  I never owned a WiiU either so buying a ported game from WiiU isn't an issue for me like it is for some.

Well, in recent years, as the Angels have shifted more and used more analytics for defensive positioning, they have done better against Cano.
He hit .241 against them in 2016.

Getting tired of watching Espinosa strike out all the time.  His strikeout average is .393.  37 strikeouts and 15 hits in 94 atbats to go along with his crappy .160 batting avg

The problem with a shift against a guy like Cano is when your pitcher misses location and instead of the pitch being in it drifts towards the outside part of the plate and easily poked the other way beating the shift.  That is what happened last night, just watch the catcher.

Yeah because of that and because he isn't a one dimensional power only kind of hitter who pulls everything, they should reconsider shifting on him all the time.

I just don't get why they play Cano on a shift when he burns them for it and continue to shift on him.  Should have been game over in the 9th.  Good win though.

The way things are shaping up, the 2009 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim draft would have to be considered a good one even if the 25th pick belonged to somebody else. When three starting pitchers (including two southpaws) and a power-hitting position player reach and produce at the major league level, it makes for a nice haul.
