If the Angels are always only used for leverage…doesn’t it behoove them to leak a little that they’re not in on a guy? There is zero upside to letting your fans and the public think you are one of the finalists for a guy when you are not. It makes fans mad and agents realize you aren’t serious about their guys, eventually, and stop talking to you. Being a leverage component for agents does not benefit them in any way. They hear the same rumors we do. It’s an MLB push notification for crying out loud. Why on earth would they see that and say, “Oh Snell? Imanaga? Montgomery? We’re not close to signing them. But we will let everyone think we are.” Doesn’t seem like it accomplishes anything.

If Bellinger was in the 125-150 million range I would take a shot on him, but there's too much risk to have him resort to his 2020-2022 swing and approach I believe. 
He is a very good defensive player in the outfield and 1B though. 

My disappointment was short lived and never so severe that I felt like I was punched in the gut. 

The way I see it, if he doesn’t want to be here, so be it.

As much as it might feel like he planned this all along, I really don't think he did. It was a culmination of issues the past couple years, so it's hard for me to blame the guy. 
He wants to win. He gave the Angels 6 of *probably* his best years to prove to him we were serious contenders, and we didn't do that. 
The only people to blame is the Angels inept Organization, and I'm not going to get mad at Ohtani for that. 

They are never "in" on anyone until they sign them. It's always been how they operate.
I guarantee they're looking at everything.

just because there aren't a lot of rumors doesn't mean they're sitting in the office playing x-box. we know from a lot of years of watching that perry and company are on the phone everyday looking to fill the needs of the team. 
it requires a lot of patience on our part as we want things done RIGHT NOW, but that's not how these things work.

No player should get $700 million ($276 million more than previous record), no matter how the contract is done.

My "hatred" for the Dodgers was mild before this deferred acquisition. They're now the number 1 villain. So much so, that I'm actually thankful that the trashstros cheated them out of a chip. The phony 2020 season is all they can cling to. Hope they remain the modern day Buffalo Bills.

I completely agree with this sentiment Chuck, while we aren’t completely insulated from the idiocy of Twitter-like behavior or “takes”, we still have the greatest collection of dedicated and knowledgeable fans out there.  

If you're not on social media or don't watch the MLB Network, disregard this post. You're just fine right where you're at. 
But holy hell if you scroll through timelines on any social media app, especially X, or you're a daily viewer of the MLB Network... it's non-stop Dodgers this, Shohei Ohtani that. Just wait for the season to start, it's going to get worse.
I was going to post some examples here for those who aren't on social media and the fawning that's 24/7 on the MLB Network over Ohtani and the Dodgers, but I'll spare you. 
MLB always wanted Ohtani to be on the Dodgers or the Yankees. They got their wish and now fans of all 29 other teams have to suffer if they choose to continue to get their news & have dialogue with other fans on these outlets.

Watching Bauer’s Youtube channel has really changed my perception of who he is. Seeing how hard he works, and his commitment to his routine could possibly have a positive effect on the younger pitchers in the organization. 
 
Playing in Japan can really change a player, just watch Mr. Baseball…

I'm surprised that he even bothered to actually say, "No comment", rather than just literally not commenting.
