Yes I wanted him but I'm also not going to call the guy all sorts of names or anything. You can't fault a guy for accepting a deal to be the highest paid pitcher ever and play for his childhood team. The guy is really living the dream. He may have gone for the most money, but he also went to the team he rooted for growing up. That's a huge factor for some people I'd say. And no one here can deny the Yankees are in a much, much (much) better position than us to win a few championships. 
 
Side note: Did we ever find out what Jeff Fletcher was talking about with his eyes, pancakes, and bear emojis? Get bad info? Too many drinks? Unrelated?

The thing that worries me most about losing out is now we might empty the farm a bit to land some pitching.

They should just announce the Angels signed Cole and Rendon at the same time. Two birds and all that jazz.

People around here talk like Arte is Jeter or something. We have a pretty awesome owner.

We all know that signing Cole and Rendon and whoever else isn't a guarantee at all.  What it is - is showing us his commitment to winning.  Maybe he doesn't get his ring, but it won't be for a lack of trying and that's all any fan base can ask for.  Stuff happens.  Players fail. Bad luck hits the fan every now and then.  We are freakin' lucky to have Arte as the owner of our favorite team.  Anyone who questions his commitment to winning is an idiot. 

Those worried about the latter years of the contract need to remember if we can win now, then the team will be raking in the cash and be able to spend more potentially in the future, that came about from actually winning something.

No matter what happens this board is going to be divided. If we sign him we will spend too much. If we don't we should have spent whatever it takes. I'm torn now due to the years and numbers we are talking about.

Boras really is a genius. Now the teams in on Cole are going to panic and start offering stupid money and years. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets in crazy territory.
