TroutCron got a reaction from Vladdylonglegs in Albert Pujols not yet ready to talk retirement
Does he really believe someone will give him a contract in two years when he is 50? Does he expect the Angels to build a statue of him and place it in front of the Big A? Good luck Albert.
No way he should have his number retired. He doesn’t deserve it based on his years with the Angels.

TroutCron reacted to Blarg in Farm System Rankings
Right now, unless you are a pitcher, there is not much room on the parent club. That is truly where the Angels farm needs a shot in the arm. This upcoming draft really needs to focus on their biggest weakness because free agency isn't netting them a top arm.

TroutCron reacted to Docwaukee in Farm System Rankings
we'll see how things go. I hope they're wrong. Fortunately, they usually are.
I like our farm system but it really is quite the crapshoot at this point. So many boom or bust guys in the lower levels and not much in AA/AAA outside of Marsh and Adell.
It's pretty easy to rank out system low because it's not like they're gonna feed a ton of new talent to the big league club this year. A lot of that has already graduated and the next wave is a couple years away at least.
Even if they do make some major strides this year (which they very well could), that's all the pundits will have to say in their next publication. It is a little bit of an odd ranking though considering that they rank a system like cleveland so high based on a similar profile of having a lot of the top guys at age 20 or younger.
Truly though, if the system doesn't make a decent jump this year and the major league club doesn't make a playoff push, Billy is going to be looking for a new job.

Very possible as well. I mean he LOOKED happy 🤷🏼♂️
I also did hear Rengifo talking about the trade that never happened and that he’s thrilled he’s still here

TroutCron reacted to tdawg87 in Manfred live now on mlb.com
It's just such a disaster. It all really boils down to the players who take things into their own hands (i.e. throwing at batters) getting suspended and the cheating players getting off scot-free.
It's like a person robbing someone's home and the homeowner gets jail time for shooting the robber, while the robber gets off because "the pain of being shot" was punishment enough.
Manfred can deep clean my balls, taint, and asshole with his tongue.

TroutCron got a reaction from Angel Oracle in OC Register: Angels’ Ty Buttrey believes he’s learned from 2019 rollercoaster season
The Angels didn’t have a pitching coach last season, they had Doug White!

TroutCron got a reaction from Lou in Which one of our starters posts the highest WAR next season?
The only thing Suarez will figure out is where the next buffet is. He has very little chance of being an effective MLB pitcher.

TroutCron reacted to mmc in Does this organization value pitching less than every other organization in baseball?
It feels like the Angels are well behind pretty much every other organization in the league when it comes to acquiring pitchers. We don't draft pitchers high (Canning is the only top 2 round pick in the Eppler draft era), we don't seem to invest any international pool money in them (sans Ohtani), we don't spend money on them in free agency (never given a 9 figure contract to a pitcher), and we seem very hesitant to part with what is considered fair value in trades for pitchers. I get the sense that our organization just simply doesn't place a lot of value into pitchers. Why do we seem so hesitant to invest assets into acquiring pitchers by any means compared to every other team in the league?

TroutCron got a reaction from tomsred in Pederson and Adell
The Padres aren’t trading Gore just like Adell is untouchable. The lesson here is if you want top of the rotation starters you need to draft and develop them, with emphasis on development.

TroutCron reacted to UndertheHalo in Pederson/Stripling deal is DEAD. MOVE ON.
So like I said, this would be an example of bad faith negotiation. It’s not the Angels problem that the other deal fell apart. It’s not the Angels problem that Bloom is an incompetent moron that let Betts get away for what is now clearly way less then he was worth. The Dodgers first negotiated with players they were not fully prepared to part with during the negotiation, and then tried to change the terms of the agreed upon deal in this scenario. Fuck them. The *only* correct thing to do in a situation like this is pull the plug.

TroutCron reacted to Blarg in Pederson and Adell
Adell is a top 5 prospect in all of baseball and you would trade him because you have a platoon lefty that has a good month or two? Just the economics of your suggestion is ludicrous. You are talking about trading away a far superior player that is just entering the league and will be MLB minimum salary for at at least four years for a guy the Dodgers are willing to trade as a salary dump?

Pages has huge upside at 19 years old though a pitching prospect would be more desirable..
-
TroutCron got a reaction from ELEVEN in The Angels "could" have a really good supporting cast behind Ohtani in the rotation
If Ohtani can give the Angels 5-6 innings a start @3.30 ERA then that is a big plus. If he has difficulty pitching this season then I would give him a 1B glove and play him there full time. I would rather rotate guys through the DH spot to keep everyone fresh.

TroutCron got a reaction from krAbs in Is Joc Peterson better than Brian Goodwin?
Pederson crushes righties and Goodwin is better against lefties. This is a good platoon for RF. Defensively, Pederson is a superior defender.
