Walks were up, velocity dipped -- got rocked in three games that slanted the overall numbers.   I think most of this has been said in the thread.   Allen is a name brand guy coming off a subpar year.  Some will cling to his history, others will not be able to look past his ERA last year.  At the end of the day he's pretty much what people were clamoring for, an established guy with a track record who may help solidify things.   I'd like to see another RP added but that's just me.

The Angels should just fold this offseason... oh wait they already were. No way we can compete with the Red Sox and Yankees.

it's not a great article. it's an amateur piece written poorly. none of his suggestions add up into a cohesive timeline, then he summarizes his article with a paragraph that should be about another article entirely, milb and a potential strike. tell me, what does the last paragraph have to do with anything that came before it.

. . .1). Celebrate that the team I follow has some aggressive aspirations, and 2). Be happy that they are doing so selectively on younger players with prime years ahead of them rather than on older aging players whose best years are behind them, and 3). Celebrate that it would seem logical that a Trout extension would soon follow.

we make a bunch of these types of signings every year to fill out minor league rosters.  
according to his bref page, he was actually drafted by Boston in the 12th round in 2015.  looks like he pitched in two games, walked 7 guys, gave up 4 runs and recorded one out.  Then he hasn't pitching for major league franchise since.  They probably thought this guy was gonna hurt someone.
