ukyah reacted to kevinb in Players and Owners far apart
Are u kidding me. Players will never agree to this. Owners are playing the fans and players like a fiddle. Players are looking like the bad guys while the owners will pocket a boat load of cash. If the players have to agree to this then the owners should agree to they can’t make more than X amount of dollars during the year. Neither of this will happen. Good luck MLB

ukyah got a reaction from yk9001 in Which starting pitchers do you want us to target when trades resume?
it's hard to imagine there would be, other than maybe a few moves. i think this topic is funny. the world is in pandemic, no sports are being played and we're talking about who to acquire? for what?! there's no baseball.

I don’t even know if there will be trades if there’s an 82-game season.

ukyah reacted to Bronson in How would you fix our alternate uniforms?
Yeah not a fan of navy blue for our team. Just stick to the red. The uniform has become the look that everyone knows us by. We are creating culture. Why destroy it? The uniforms are simple, clean and effective. There is absolutely no reason to change anything.

i fucking hate sleeveless jerseys. i don't care if you win 100 games in them, they look like shit.

why not go to navy blue. every other nondescript generic mlb team does. maybe we can become just like those model franchises. the real iconic franchises have an identity and stick with it. obviously, the angels have dicked around with their look like so many other expansion teams. personally, i feel like they've established their color code. a navy hat mixes in fine with their uniforms. i say leave it at that.

I think that there is zero chance that he gets replaced after this crazy season.

McGriff ended his career with 493 home runs. So the difference between HOF and not, was the strike in ‘94.

he wasn't a homerun guy in the moto class of hof'er, but he brought power that had never been seen by a leadoff hitter before. 297 career homeruns and the mlb record for leadoff homeruns of 81. i doubt that he's a top ten player overall, but he's without a doubt the greatest lead off hitter of all time, and it's not really close. it's interesting that you said pittsburgh barry bonds. i think that henderson is more like barry's dad, bobby, who introduced power as a lead off hitter, but rickey has significantly better bat to ball skills a la tim raines. ricky makes both those guys look ill-equipped by comparison.
my favorite quote by rickey is when he broke the all time runs scored record and said something to the effect of, this is the one that is most important to him. because scoring runs is the whole reason you play the game. it's the singular goal of the hitter.
i thought that showed a tremendous amount of depth of character, all wrapped up in the trippiest third person talker i've ever heard. love the guy.

2009 was a long time ago. The Angels get, what, $150 million from local tv and a nice chunk of change from mlb.com that didn't exist in 2009? Plus, national tv has gone up.
At this point I just think there's too much money at stake for them not to play.
Sure, Mike Trout can probably go without a pay check for a year, but David Fletcher is on cameo.
Cameo is arguably as disturbing as COVID19

he's top 9 to me in the sense of building an actual all time mlb lineup where guys hit in the relative or actual spot that they hit in their careers. in my mind, rickey's your all time mlb starting lead off hitter, probably at DH.

ricky henderson is my all time favorite player. he was awesome. gets a bad rap from some people too. you tell me another 1st ballot hof'er that goes and plays in the independent leagues for pennies because he loves playing the game so much. i saw him set several all time records in person and i was at gwynn's last at bat. made sure to catch all those as opportunity presented itself here in san diego.
