I think it's the opposite. I feel like the more selfish thing to do would be to play baseball no matter the safety protocols. I think he is looking out for his family first, and himself, second. I feel the MLB can do more to ensure the safety of the player than they have done.
 
It's selfish for us to expect baseball players to play no matter the consequence. I do feel the Angels have done probably the best at making their own "bubble" and pledging to eachother to stay safe during the season unlike other MLB clubs.

I hope the NFL is looking at MLB's disaster and making plans to do some sort of bubble.  When you allow travel, you allow a lot more possibilities of contact and contamination.  Canada is looking smart in not allowing Toronto to play their home games this season because of this potential result of additional cases.  We'll see how the bubble goes for the NHL and NBA, but right now, those two leagues are doing a much better job in handling the situation than MLB is right now.  At this point, it's probably best to shut down and cancel the season before more players get the virus.

Baseball would be in trouble if you guys all listened to me and looked at things how I do.
I have zero passion. I love the sport and I love watching, but I don’t care who wins.
I am able to look at things from a more logical and detached perspective than a fan, but the sport needs the passion you guys have. That’s what ultimately drives it and sells it to the next generation.

Angels have so many of these AAAA players Walsh, Hermosillo, Ward, and Thaiss on their roster.

Yea, that is a you issue Randy.  None of those guys have been given a chance to actually show what they can do.  Thaiss came up last year put up a .705 OPS and showed the ability to have an OBP 80 points higher than his batting average.  He also hit 8 home runs, which over the course of a season is a lot closer to 30 home runs.  He might need more than 150 at bats to prove whether or not he is capable of being able to help a team as either a starter or a bench player.  Ward could be a solid bench player/platoon player.  Once again 200 at bats in two seasons.
