I don’t think the fact that someone has always wanted to have a job means they don’t deserve to be paid minimum wage. 
 
Also, it’s not like the team is providing them a place to play and they aren’t providing a service for the team. If that were the case they’d be free to switch teams whenever they wanted.
For six years minor leaguer have no right to say “Hey this other team has a better opportunity for me and will pay me more money.” Why do you think that is? It’s because the team that controls the player gets a benefit out of having them. So they should compensate them.
I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree.  

The union is called the Major League Baseball Players Association. It represents major league players (which extends to guys on 40-man rosters so a few minor leaguers do get some perks and representation).
Minor league players are not part of the union, so they have no collective bargaining power. 
 
Right now there is a movement for minor leaguers to try to unionize, but I am not sure how far it will go. 
 
I’ve always figured the MLBPA ought to take the lead in bringing minor leaguers under their umbrella, since the MLBers all know how much it sucked when they were in the minors. But I guess they don’t want to risk any of their money going to minor leaguers.

the cards aren't going to do shit until he's done.  there's no reason for them to cough up a red cent.  When it's time they'll swoon over him to tickle the rears of cards fans and Albert will rightly eat it up.  The Angels will end up a footnote and afterthought to the celebration of his HOF career with the cards.  The Angels will also make an attempt to celebrate his accomplishments as if they were somehow an accomplice yet they'll be cast aside on a national level as us fans continue to lament the signing and the lack of acknowledgement butt hurt ensues.  

Why? It's not your stats. Why does it matter? 

Most disappointing now because there seems to be a lack of spirit and collective team solidarity. So many unforced mental and physical errors all year and little accountability. No anger at failure or continued losing. And no real charismatic personalities to try and shake the team up. If you are losing, go down fighting and clawing. Defeatism seems to have set in.

Hansel Robles shouldn't get to use his intro video if he's not the closer.  It seems kinda sad for just some guy in the bullpen to have a hype video like that.

So you’re saying that if it turns out that he can’t pitch because of discomfort and if he can’t fix the yips at the plate he’s still worth keeping? He will be a negative war player at that point if that happens. I hope he can rebound but there’s no way in hell I would keep him around if he doesn’t. It’s counterproductive. I think people are still starry eyed about his rookie season which was great but that guy might not ever return. They have to be prepared for that. 

No, they tried, failed, and then rebooted.   Guessing you aren't aware of the facts as per usual.
The really funny part is the two teams actually crossed paths while spending money.   The Padres got Tatis after signing James Shields to a 4 year 75 million contract and falling flat on their faces.  That's the winter they traded for Matt Kemp and his salary plus took on the real Melvin's contract to get Kimbrel.  Then traded for Justin Upton (giving up Max Fried).    The CWS meanwhile thought they were on the verge of competing and actually thought taking on the final three years and 63 million was so worth it they traded away Tatis Jr to get him.
Besides you're the guy that's always telling people it's not about the money when defending the Yankees..   Or is it only about the money when someone spends less than the Angels?

this is what tweaks people. we all know ohtani needs to get it together, but you didn't say that. you said the angels need to release him if he doesn't and that's absurd.

You seem to forget they still aren’t paying him very much. His upside is still waaaaaaaaaaaaay more than his salary. 

Arte is not going to do that to Pujols. With Upton, it is what it is. He’ll show up every now and then but mostly disappoint. Ohtani is a frickin mess that better fix himself. The team can’t afford to carry him just because he’s the famous two way guy from Japan. If Ohtani shows up next season and plays like he’s playing now they need to quit f’n around with him and scrap the whole thing and designate him for assignment. 

These three players really shit the bed this season. If they show up next season and continue playing like this then the question for next year’s postseason hunt is already answered no matter how we pitch.

This is not going to get better with just a few trades.  This team is doing worse than teams assembled to tank...........this was a team supposedly on the cusp of playoffs.......the fact that this team has trouble competing is all you need to know about its future.

What a total shit show........when Eppler started, this sort of performance was expected, but now should not be tolerated.  This team is not even mediocre, it will be an improvement to reach the mediocre level. In the time Eppler has had control, he has failed to draft and develop a 1B, 3B, C and dependable average pitchers.  I thought there was a plan.....

Well, did we win?

I guess that's one way to look at it. I see a team that now has questions in the middle infield, at first base, in left field, in right field, the lineup quality overall, Ohtani, the entire starting rotation, and the bullpen. Too many question marks to think they could be competitive next year.

This team is in a real rough spot now... this season has created far more question marks than answers.

Why does it seem like there are 125 top 50 prospects?
